... it's Spire (info from red journal in desk in demo).

That conjures up images, doesn't it?

I can't access the red book. Can you only do that after you've solved the puzzle?

Whoops, blue, yes, sorry.

I've always felt that Achenar's book SHOULD be red, and Sirrus's SHOULD be blue, because Achenar is hot and Sirrus is cold...

but that's not the way Rand saw it, apparently http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Why is Achenar hot, Sirrus cold? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

When in the demo did it say which brother is in which prison? Are we just going by the book colors from the first game (which I haven't played in aeons)?

I don't think this was made clear in the demo, but we know which brother was trapped in which colored book from the Myst game and, if I'm not mistaken, the Revelation trailer gave us info on who was trapped in Haven.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think the blue book that we get to read in the demo is the linking book to Haven. If I'm not mistaken, both linking books are in the enclosed globe that you access from the elevator.

I think the fact that the book we get to read also happens to be blue is just a fluke.

My interpretation is that the since the blue book is Atrus's journal describing Haven, the red one is probably his journal describing Spire. Like the journals on the bookshelf in the Myst library. I doubt it's a coincidence that they're red and blue http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

The developers haven't given away any information regarding Spire (except, now, for its name); that's why they wouldn't let us read the red journal yet. I'm sure we'll get to read it in the game.

They are certainly not the linking books though; as you say, those are in the globe.

By the way, for anyone that hasn't played RealMyst lately... the crystals in the drawing at the end of the blue book are found in Rime, the extra Age in RealMyst. They're used to access a device which allows peeking into Ages without going there; to me this suggests that Atrus and Catherine have been keeping an eye on Sirrus and Achenar.

Sri, I wondered at those crystals significance. I purchased RealMyst, but haven't been able to play....the movement makes me terribly ill and dizzy....so I never got to see Rime. Thanks for the info.

Is there a red book also? I need to go back and take another look....seems I didn't inspect everything as closely as I thought.

Yes, the blue book is on the right and the red on the left, in slots at the top of the desk. The red book can't be accessed, so we will have to wait.

The shipwreck scene is from Haven, it's mentioned in the Blue journal.

As to how we know which brother is in which, the Myst4 website labels Haven as Achenar's age, so we can assume that Spire is Sirrus' http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

so haven is a very diverse age then, with rainforests AND a beached shipwreck. I dont remember seeing that in a myst world before, they all used to follow a certian flow, one central design idea.

YES ive been to myst!!11!
http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/35.gif

But myst (the island) was following one specific style, even though it was barely there. It seems all of the ages weve seen followed one specific style, or climate or region etc, but a rainforest and a beach w/ a shipwrect is new, that two completely different things.

Hmmm... jungles are typically in wet places, and thus frequently have beaches.

Riven had different sorts of areas on its different islands too...

but generally, I see your point... size and diversity in an Age are a good thing http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I think Sirrus's age is the ship age because various reviewers have visited Sirrus's age and said things like "the surf hits the rocky shore and sprays up" ect which seems to describe the landscape around the ship. But then again, we only JUST learned the name of the age, so who knows?

the "Inter-Age Diversity" is probably a result of the fact that ubisoft has taken over the franchise.

lol sorry, joking about having been to Myst thunder.

i agree the area around the ship and jungle (not to mention the swamp and field) do look as if in completely different ages!

but I think the diversion and weird juxtpositions thougherly enhance the surrealistic nature inherant in age writing (and indeed also in reality) and make wandering in these worlds truely a unique and amazing experience

TheThunder55

thats true, it adds to the realism, i dont think we saw that with cyan. (not that im saying anything against cyan of course http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif )
