View Full Version : Which game had the worst iterations of our favorite characters?

Note: I'm talking about graphics here, not personality.

Sometimes characters that were previously introduced make a reappearance later in another game. Technology changes all the time and it can be difficult to recreate the look of a past-gen character with next-gen technology, for example.

So which games did you think had the fugliest version of which character?

I'll start by saying Shaun and Rebecca looked their worst in AC4. Both had oddly generic, plastic-looking faces that made them look kinda creepy. It's like both were molded from the same basic face model, which is especially weird considering we have Danny Wallace as a living, breathing model for Shaun. In Syndicate they look more like themselves, thankfully.

Nobody can beat Desmond when it comes to change faces and usually for the worst.

Although they did get worse, it wasn't too noticeable to me until AC3's variation of Desmond, it's like he suddenly aged an extra 10 years or something :(

May be Haytham in AC 3 compared to AC Rogue?

For me, it would have to be Desmond I ACR. I was also baffled by his change of appearance

Desmond in ACR.

Im glad he was fixed in AC3 so he looked much better, but ACR Desmond is something that you cannot unsee...

All of the MD characters in AC3 looked pretty bad, especially Bill. And they were really stiffly animated, too. I guess they just ran out of dev time, or put their B-team on it, because the faces and animations in the rest of the game were fantastic.

Here's Rebecca AC2 for reference:

Yeah, as others said, ACR Desmond looked very different. I think he still looked odd in AC3 personally. But anyway...

I'd also make a case for Syndicate's modern day cutscenes. Several of the characters looked off in that to me (Juno's face for one example, Galina didn't really match Initiates or her comics appearance either.)

ACR Desmond. Also ACR Ezio. Both looked like monkeys.

Oh Lord, I forgot how bad she looked in AC3. And Shaun too. They probably used the same models for Black Flag.

Desmond in ACR definitely looked weird too.

Probably Altair in Revelations... only because the camera is pointing upwards and you see two large dimples instead of actual nostrils (at least on the ps3 version).

Lucy in AC2 with those weird big lips. And Desmond in AC2 as well. He's not Adam Sandler-ACR-level Desmond of course, but still looks very weird. Desmond face changing is actually pretty weird on its own. I still don't understand why it was changed to look very close to Ezio and wasn't kept from AC1. It only gets stranger from there.

I don't get it either. AC1 Desmond looked closest to the guy who he was modelled after. Then again, AC2 completely changed visual styles for AC anyway and went all cartoony for whatever reason.
