Ok
The Scene.
Outbound in an IL2 3M going tankbusting online in a scripted mission.
About a third of the way to the target I get jumped by a lone 109. He gets in some good hits, but my rear gunner blows him away, eventualy lol.

After everything has calmed down I do a few quick checks of the flight controls, all seems fine, aelerons, elevators and rudder are still perfect.
Cant see any fluid loss and the control in the pit look ok, albeit a bit shot up.
Excellent, I carry on towards the target area hoping not to be spotted again and hiding in the clouds as best I can.
Next thing I start getting a weak response from the elevators, then nothing, zero elevator control.
This was when I was about two thirds the way there and nowhere near any enemy or flak, they just failed.
No I have played IL2 for a fairly long time and have never had this happen to me.
If its moddeled in the game , then FANTASITC!!! Well done.
If it isnt and I was imagining it, then in future I will by my cigarettes from the same place I got them that day, thats for sure.
Anyone experienced this progressive loss of flight controls after an attack?

That`s what i love about this sim. No I`ve not experienced the same thing, but I did get a Prop pitch failure after a dogfight. I`ve flown IL2+Fb AEP for a couple of years now and that`s the 1st and only time I`ve had the prop pich go out on me.

These little discoveries are great. I know for a fact that there are many more little surprises and none of us have found them all!

Just recently over the last 2 months or so I have had a good few prop pitch failures, which to my limited knowledge is also pretty new.
You take a few hits in the wrong place and you have zero control on the pitch.

Hi,

I've had varying levels of elevator failure following a hit but never, AFAIK, a progressive failure from an earlier hit.

This leads me to another question in which sim is more accurate in terms of control failure - CFS3 or IL2? Presumably, where aircraft had hydraulic surface control, loss of fluid/pressure would cause a gradual reduction in control efficiency.....which CFS3 models, although it seems to apply it to all aircraft.

Cheers,
Norris
