Ive been looking at getting a new stick for the past few days about 3 have cropped up.

Saitek X-45

Thrustmaster Topgun Afterburner Forcefeedback

and

Microsoft Sidewinder 2 FF pro.

The thing is i want FF but more so a HOTAS and a yoke, does anyone have a Thrustmaster and could verify that it is of high build quality and has the same kind of FF that SideWinders give not rumbling?

If not could you recommend the Saitek over the SW or vice versa?

Thanks http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I just got my wife into letting me spend 560 euros on the CH Products HOTAS set and I really love it.

/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif CH Fighter stick USB
/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif CH Pro Throttle USB
/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif CH Pro Pedals USB

WOOOOHAAAA, I love this HOTAS set.
While I will not be a better pilot at once using this HOTAS, at least I will be using a top one HOTAS and hopefully will learn to be a better pilot.

The afterburner is very nice, but I really dislike the throttle. It's very umprecise crank makes it almost impossible to accurately set your power at paste 85% RPM in FB. It's impossible to use some power because the throttle will immediately fall back in the crank.

I don't have the FFB version though. I don't know how it is in the FFB, but you may want to check it out anyway.

Does anybody have experience/comments on Logitech sticks mainly about Logitech Extreme 3d pro.

I use a combo.

MSFFB2 as main stick (Roll, Pitch).

X45 as throttle, flaps mapped to the rudder control. Main stick used as 'button bay'.

CH USB Pro Rudder pedals.

I use a modified version of Bearcat99's X45 Profile.

The last is optional, but the first two do work very well in combination.

If you are not worried about FFB then X45 is pretty good.

What is your budget?

I use what Enk uses..... for$140 US you can get an X45 and aMSFFB2 and have the Hotas you want with the best FFB stick on the mrket..(my opnion of course)...

For a low/mid priced stick, I highly recommend Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold.

If thats the case then go for the X45 and when you can get the FFB...even if it isnt MS..(They may be hard to find soon). FB will support multiple inputs. HOTAS definitely ups the fun factor anmd FFB really enhances the whole flight experience.

Already have a Cyborg 3D and i hate the naff FF on it!

The main reason is that on IL2 some of the only warnings you get is from FFB e.g stalling getting hit etc.

I think ill toss a coin :P

I currently use the MSFF2 with a CH Pro Throttle. It's a nice setup with good force feedback and doesn't require pedals.

I'm getting ready to purchase the rest of the CH setup (Fighterstick and Pro Pedals both USB). I've had CH Joysticks for many years and the quality/durability are second to none.

I'll hang on to my MSFF2 because it's a good stick and they may be hard to find in the near future.

I currently have an X45 and CH Pro pedals. I'm going to try out replacing the stick with a MS FF2 to stick and use it with the x45 thorttle. I believe the X45 throttle is better than the CH Pro throttle because it has two knobs that you can use for things like trim and prop pitch with the CH throttle does not have.

I have built my own joystick from crap iron and some cheap electronic parts aprox 5 euro. Its a replica of a ME-109 flightstick. I have also built pedals and throttle, no replica thow but fully functional. They havnt got programmable buttons yet. If you are interested I can send you some drawings of it.

Do not buy the Microsoft stick :/ I have the sidewinder precision 2 and it's bad. It was good when I got it but now it's gotten all wobbly and loose.
