Is it just me or is it a bit disconcerting that there is no real news regarding the pending patch/dedicated server release?

First of all, let me say, I'm NOT trying to get anything started here. My only concern is in regards to previous statements concerning the same there was a timeframe of "approximately 2 weeks from the Euro release of ACES". To date there have been a number of "weekly updates" but nothing to the effect of "just a couple more issues to be worked out and it will be ready for public DL" or "It's completely hosed and will be another month".

Just throw us, or me at least (I'm selfish that way http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif ) a bone to slightly ease the anxiety of waiting.

Please?

I'm sure Oleg got an ear full from the competitors in China. Probably never knew how many bugs he really had in the online ballistics damage ect. Its probably a good thing that we have to wait a couple more weeks, we need 20 and 30mm's that work. Hopefully those 50 cals get fixed too.

Did anyone see that or was it just me?

You know.. we deserve better than this.. Im not saying we deserve a min to min break down of what is going on.. But they could AT LEAST give us some feedback on the things they are working on..

For example, we provide them feedback on bug via the described method.. Oleg says they will and and do not read this forum looking for bugs.. For that reason Olegs ready room is nothing more then another GENERAL forum!

The only bugs they will even consider fixing are the ones they recive via email from us or the ones they happen to find..

Why dont they AT LEAST provide us with that official email list of bugs they have compiled?

Ill tell you why.. Because they are only going to fix the ones that get the most complaints.. Or is very trivial to fix (ie easy). By not giving us a list of bugs they can play ignrance to it... Really sad.

I think it's called "The Arrogance of Success."

St. Oleg used to walk this earth (err, visit these boards) frequently.

St. Oleg also used to (with his very talented staff) do all the developing personally. Now, he's licensed it out to Third Parties like Starshoy and the result, BOE, is a flop. But it's the only game in town.

St. Oleg's and Ubi's communications with customers have deteriorated greatly (now watch all the fan boys defend them http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)

In case you're fairly new to sims, "two weeks" is a joke. On any sim, ask when something will be finished and the answer always "two weeks."
It NEVER actually means "two weeks." http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Tbolt, if your confused why a developer would not want to participate in this community, then I'm sure this very thread will clear things up.

Maddox is a celebrity around here, and ppl get deluded into thinking that they have some kind of personal connection to the man. Some ppl are unreasonably fond of him, while others are unreasonably hateful. Would you like to be judged (favorably or otherwise) by ppl who don't know you?

I know this may seem a little off the topic you started, but this is my understanding of the question you pose. I don't think it's a matter of keeping us in the dark, as much as it's an issue of attitude. I presume that 1C/Ubi considers it un-constructive to involve the community @ large w/ the development process.

LOL, Georgeo, as someone who writes every day in a large metropolitan newspaper, I've learned to have a very thick skin. I'm sure Oleg has, too.

The only difference is, I respond to every call and e-mail I receive, even the critical ones.

Oleg is doing less and less responding.

i'd settle for a word on the DS patch. my flying has dropped off to nill because there are no DS to fly (online only flyer, myself). might i suggest that every add Oleg to your "contacts" list that way you can quickly check to see if he's made any new posts and what topic they were on.

This is probably the base of their stance, right or wrong. I guess I'm deluded by the fact that I've been here since the beginning and remember the days when we as a community were quite well informed and up-to-date on the staus of development.

I don't know Oleg and he doesn't know me. I don't have higher expectations simply because I'm a consumer of their products; Rather, I have them because that's what I had gotten used to from them.

I also understand a developer wouldn't want to actively participate in this community due to some of the obviously immature rants that have permeated it over time.

I am nevertheless an optimist and despite periods of disillusionment, will continue to be.

Oleg has taken a lot of heavy flak, especially about 2 weeks ago. I know, he probably felt good about the positive comments on AEP and thought he`d talk to everyone. Unfortunately familiarity breeds contempt and certain people decided to really start arguing with him. His mistake was when he ARGUED back rather than making his opinion and leaving it at that (For some reason no MOds were around to bring order, Ivan wasn`t Mod then).

Some whines had a point others didn`t, point is they were nearly all rude or harsh. Absolutely no politeness or simple courteousy given as you would do to anyone face-to-face. To me it seemed some people WANT to try and WORSEN Oleg`s performance somehow on FB, rather than make things actually better.

Anyway, now he`s vanished. I can`t blame him. If it were me I would not have been so kind. I have issues with FB and there are things I feel could make it better, but there are WAYS and MEANS of doing it!

Well, we reap what we sow. Probably 2 months for the patch now....

There's two categories of people posting on these boards that are to blame:

1. The crazed, rude and rather petty whiners who post insulting and ridiculous comments with little to back them up.

2. The crazed, rude and rather petty anti-whiners who put Oleg on a pedestal and will not accommodate any divergent views other than "FB is great and Oleg is GoD".

The latter antagonize the former and vice-versa. It's a vicious cycle that breeds a horde of posts no one wants to read.

In between these idiotic posts a bunch of legitimate, respectful complaints and well-thought-out, similarly respectful counter-arguments get lost. Back in the early days we had support because we were not used to it and thus treated Oleg with respect while at the same time our distrust of sim developers prevented us from revering him. It was a balance that we have lost now. Too many people, as georgo put it, now either hate Oleg or hate Oleg-haters.

It would be great if people could grow up and act their age - offer constructive criticism of the game or of others' opinions instead of spewing a load of disrespectful BS that alienates both the game developer and the opposing camps in the community. Then, maybe, Oleg & Co. can be enticed back into their usual proactive approach.
