I heard someone ask about this a few months ago...
Any news or thoughts on this as an option for Coop missions?..
Basically the option to turn on or off respawns when you are shot down in a coop mission... respawning back to your original runway..
I realise this would not work too well in some missions but it would be a handy option to toggle on or off..
A mission we are currently working on (basically a transfer from Lock on and F22 L3..)
Is to have two teams attack each others base with fighters and bombers with AA protection at the bases.. respawns are on the object being to destroy the enemy base first

I asked a question along the same lines......

Many of us like to fly online wars using COOP missions that last 1-2 hours in duration. It would be a nice addition to be able to RTB and re-arm / re-fuel your aircraft then return to the action.

You could retain any damage from previous action to simulate an aircraft that sees combat during a day. The damage would be cumulative until a point is reached when you RTB and the rearming option is not available because you are not fit for combat.

I'm not a proponent of respawns after death. As far as I'm concerned "Dead is Dead".

I'd like to see this get some consideration.

I would think that this requires HEAVY recoding of the whole game. A COOP is an organism moving forwards according to a prescribed plan, whereas dogfights are static. This is why you only can respawn in a dogfight, but it is also why only coops can have moving AI objects.

Are you talking about IL2 or flight sims in general... This is the only flight sim I know where you cannot respawn in a coop mission if the mission itself allows it.. The problem with the dogfight is that you cannot set a goal to reach it just carries on and on...
I don't know how much programming this would involve .. only the programmers would know..
As for repairs and /or respawns it could be added to the difficulty options to be turned on or off before the game starts.

Aye - it would be important especially when your coop partner decided to crash into you on the airfield before the mission starts.

In Cfs 3 you could respawn in a coop. It was great, especially when your hosting. Getting kiled at the start while hosting can ruin your day. I like the CFS3 option. You continue to respawn right down to a dunner if thats all there is.
Programming cant be that hard if CFS3 did it.
Landing to refuel and re arm? Oh yes. Love that idea.

You will never see this in the current IL2 game. It would be a major redesign of their current online mode. Think Dogfight servers experience a hiccup when someone spawns in? You would have a HUGE delay on anyone respawning during a coop under the current system.

I wouldn't waste time lobbying for this in IL2 but instead expend the effort for BoB and beyond. Not saying it's a bad idea just saying you are about 6 years too late to be lobbying for it in IL2.

As for the comment:

That's like saying you can do brain surgery because somebody somewhere did it before. If you aren't a programmer don't make assumptions about the difficulty in programming something. In cases like this it is nearly an order of magnitude more difficult to re-program a design change than it is to re-write it from scratch.

find a server called czechwar_DFS on hyperlobby http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

it's a work in development but all warbirds fans will have instant knowledge about gameplay http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
