View Full Version : New 109 pit?

Hey, new here so go easy on me. I was wondering if anyone is/could do an updated 109 cockpit? The one we have now is rather old and lacking in my opinion, but perhaps I am just spoiled by the 110 pit. Oh man, that is gorgeous! Hey, maybe we can bug that guy and have him make a new one! Oooo...

But I can definately see why this wouldn't even be worth it with PF and BoB coming soon. Just a question. Thanks.

If you think that the BF-109 cockpit is bad,you definatly havn't jumped into the P.11c cockpit have you? If anything, that needs an upgrade.

I don't mean anything wrong with the cockpit in terms of accuracy, I just mean a graphical update.

I'll have to go try the P.11c.

i dont see anything wrong with it *shrug*
rather have a NEW flyable plane
or if they do 109 mistel then they could update pit at same time http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I started the same thread while a go. It is true that some planes have worst cockpits, but bf109 is probably the most frequently flown aircraft online, from that point it should recive fresh cockpit (maybe yust new textures). It could be the final touch for FB.

P-47
P-47!
P-47!!

This is what most needs a new 'pit! Some of us Jug drivers dont like the fact that there are big black patches of nothingness in our cockpits.

And the 110 and J8 pits are BEAUTIFUL! Congrats to the modelers (i think the J8 was done br MR Tibbs??).

Seroiusly doubt they will get reworked. They are functional, if not excellent (except for the non functional dials on the Jug http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/cry.gif) and i think they work perfectly well for what we have at the moment.

Looking at 109s pits or Spitfire or P-47.... and then 110 and gladiator....and lately I-185 - which is totally mind blowing. Me want, me want!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I tried the P.11c...

...

GOOD LORD! Was that the first cockpit ever? (I've only been playing IL2 since last fall) If it wasn't, how the heck did it measure up to Oleg's standards?! Man, that thing is bad.

The P-47 needs an updated pit bad. It isn't bad except for alot of guages that dfon't work...teh lighting is poor....that dang red seat and background....and a leather pad that looks like plastic. Don't get em wrong...teh modeller did a good job it jsut needs to be redone in better detail and correctness.

hi,
her a link to warbird restoration of Me-109:

http://www.triplane.net/cur/menu.htm

Peter van Wyk de Fries is in contact with the developer to give some more details and information of real height of pilots view and the cockpit construction in general.

I guess too late for reprogram the game engine (camera view system ...)by the developer.
Same to FW-190 and some more planes like
P-47...Ki...
really a shame after this long time of first
IL-2 relaunche.

A download only addon for improved cockpits would be agreat idea IMO. Some 109 cockpits can use some improvement (the grease in windshield and textures are wanting in G6 and later IMO) as well as get the Yak (or in some IL2s) compass readable, the 10000 foot marker (missing from most US planes), the list goes on....

I would pay for this as it seems too much like a game (not a sim) when I have to look at the HUD when I want to see my heading or know my altitude (in some planes), or have no idea of the fuel situation in the P40 when I have a fuel leak. Also the P-47 textures are kinda quirky (due to a misunderstanding) and that should be fixed as well.

It would be ideal if these cockpit addons would be optional so that there is no compatibility problem online between the have and have nots, since the changes would be mostly cosmetic. Don't know if that last thing is possible though.

It doesn't take away the hours of hard work put in to it, does it? For free and from devotion.

It is not cockpits or makers fault that progress has been made. I would hate read to read stuff like this about my cockpits in the future. It doesn't cost anything to be considerate about other people's hard work.

In game cockpit loks 2d to me, if that is so why cant we have some kind of contest to submit fresh textures for our favorite planes. There are many designers who play this game, it is sad that we do only skin for external, why not for cockpits? This question wouldnt exist if all cockpits looked like i185 and gladiator.

The cockpits are built in 3D - few and far between are the fine fellows with the skill, dedication (a lot of research) and time to build them, for free no less (in most cases).

Whilst there are sure to be a few more updates/add-ons for FB I wouldn't hold my breath for revisions of already included models.

Cheers

Yes built, but ingame they seem to be 2d, if they are it could be possible that some makeup is possible, in any case the company i work for made 3 3d tv commercials, in few places i made photoshop corrections in details on picture, even when material was mounted. With masks and layers. The big yob is to start from begining, but it may not be necesery. I never had attitude that something is too hard to do, specialy when that is your yob! Anyway could we have a chance to edit existing cockpits, it is a question of developers good will, not misticism (it is impossible to do attitude like with muzle flashes). Ofcourse existing cockpit borders would stay as they are, im talking only about texture make up.

No offense, but the quote in your sig was not from Gen. MacArthur.

It was actually attributed to Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Oliver P. Smith in Korea, during 1950; "Retreat Hell! We're just attacking in another direction!"

MacArthur was too much of a hores's *** to ever say something so clever, IMHO.

Totally agree for new 109 cockpits (with a new Revi), but also for P47 and Ju87.

At least new textures, really poor now.

Bf 109 has a standard 3D database; changing some textures we could have all Bf 109 cockpits improved.

what I'd like with the P47 cockpit is a "rounder" gunsight.

In the P38, the same sight is almost perfectly round.. if it could be imported to the P47 3D model, it really would be nice http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
