I am sure many know this server, i kind of discovered it couple of weeks ago and been flying there ever since. Probably one of the top 3 servers at HL, always great crowd and some interesting fighting going on.
I just wanted to make a small suggestion, can you guys drop the friendly icons distance to like 2-3k, kinda odd to see all those call_signs flying @14k away and is it possible to increase time before map rotations? Like to 3-4 hours instead of 1-1,5 hour? Will deffinitely encurage bombers. I tried bombing mission twice, but never made it there, because pilots/planes count reached its limit and map reloaded.

Other then that, love it, well done http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

I've had a good bit of fun there lately myself and would have to agree with Ivan. I really enjoyed the time spent there, but seeing icons (although only friendly) over 10k away was mildly disconcerting.

I like having friendly icons, but dropping them to 2k (or even half the distance currently implemented) would go far imo.

Nice server!

Well I have to say I liked the icons "team" like that.Ive never seen them that way before,so it was petty interesting to me.

However I agree with these guys ,it was making it difficult for me to find nme planes with so many icons at all times.

Though I did like the server have been there a few times now and will be back either way,so Thx http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Very nice server, I wish some of the maps had less ground objects tho. All the planes on one of the bases made it unflyable for me, couldnt even line up a shot it was so choppy.

This is just constructive criticism, the server is appreciated.

Definitly can use them shortened, I'm getting tired of running ground attacks from low level around an end a bit only to have five friendlies all converging from 17 Km's away on me thinking theres a bandit to be chased. Next thing I know there's ten of those converging and those guys have all moved on. Thanks for the help escort dudes. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/51.gif

Also, any way to get a stock G-6 early? Kind of a big gap from the G-2 to AS, with the G-2 really being out of it's class and time, never see anyone in it any time.

Oh, and TY BOP's.

I believe they originally set icons at that distance to simulate "communication" between friendly aircraft since not every pilot is on the servers TS (IP for it is on the briefing screen on the server). I also hear they might be bringing friendly tag distance down a bit so that should make everyone happy.

Needs shortened at closer ranages thats for sure, but I actually like the long ranges for friendly since I'm not on comms.

I'd like to see more early-war scenarios too, but thats no big deal.

S~ Ivan

Thanks allot for your comments and for starting this thread. I didn't get a chance to see the thread until today. I was out of town. We made some adjustments to the Icons . We toned them down somewhat and we have pretty much the same opinion . The reason for the long intresting Icons was to make up for the fact that not too many pilots take advantage of the teamspeak that we offer for the server. So the Icon settings were a attempt to simulate comms but with visual aaids instead of audio. We were hoping to also promote teamwork amongst the pilots. We also increased the time of the missions and agree that the missions were a little on the short side. Again thanks for flying on the server and please let us know what you think about the adjustments .

S~Bamatt. Thanks for your comments and thankyou for flying on the server.

We have aircraft on most of the bases and there is on map where the axis are supposed to take out a large amount of of aircraft. You are actually the first one to mention any chop over the airbase. We would like to get more feedback on this, but we will look for way to remedy this and keep the same feel of the mission. The aircraft on the home bases are to prevent the cross field takeoff accidents. This seems to be the best way to solve this problem and is very successfull on the server. There is nothing worse than comming in for a landing after a 3 kill sorte only to crash into someone doing a cross field takeoff.

Thanks again and salute

I enjoy the server very much, I just think the bombers on the runway are much more of a problem then not having any ground control at all. I can't tell you how many times I've clipped them on emergency landings and died. Its very annoying. If teamwork means anything I think taking them off the runway will do more good for the team then leaving them there to be crashed into by incoming friendlys with no rudder controls and banged up crates. Just my 2 cents.

Needs more variety, the plane set basically never changes for blue, seeing less and less flying that end. How about some G-10's and a G-6 every once in a while, or even a Ki or Zero. I'm burnt out flying the blue, my favorites are never there. Allied side's not half bad, at least a bit more for variety, yet even that never changes, always the same mustang, or Jugg. I scratch my head wondering why there's never a strike Fw190-F8 on the tank strike maps, but that seems to be universal with all servers.

Agreed. Blue needs an F8 and Red needs an occassional different plane-set (more Russian maybe?).

Once I get power on back at home, I'll check out the server more. Hopefully, I'll get to fly a MiG-3 or a G-10. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/10.gif

Thanks again for flying on the server and thanks you for your suggestions. One thing we learned about running Birds of Prey is that most of our clients seem to preffer consistancy . They know that when they jump on Birds of Prey that they will most likely see that they will be able to fly one of their favorite birds. Also most of the time when I'm on the server there are more pilots flying for Blue than Red so from our observations , blue seem to be pretty happy with the planeset. However we are currently working on maps that will include soviet and Japaneses aircraft . And we see nothing wrong with adding the G-10 G-6, and F8 just give us a day or two to make the adjustments. We also have a early war map on the server that is well liked too. The current planeset we have for blue on most of the maps are as follows:

Blue=
Bf-109G-2
Bf-109G-6AS
Bf-109G-14
Bf-109K-4
Bf-110G-2
Fw-190A-5
Fw-190A-6
Fw-190A-9
Fw-190D-9
Ta-152H-1
He-111H-6

Any news on possibly lowering the friendly icon distance to at least 2k or less. Thanks for the fun server.

That's awsume, they certainly don't have to be on every map, but getting to fly one of your favorites once or twice an evening is sweet and keeps one pumped. Variety, the spice of life. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
