Cool pics as usual. Guess the P-38 will make it for the free add-on. Really hope so. BTW, great work Gibbage1.

A question about it, why did the P-38 had a yoke (sp?) instead of a control stick? And what are the yoke´s advantages/disadvantages compared to a stick?

:O will the FW200 be flyable????

it could play the strategic bomber, Germany never had. I'm still waiting for the Ju-88 tough /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Can we get a new plane or two before I retire?

Very nice, but when are we going to see them in the game?

XyZspineZyX

I'm really confused by these development updates. It seems that the planes are all over the map: Japanese and American ones (including cockpits), but strange new German ones at the same time. Is there an underlying theme linking all this development work together? Are they working on a Pacific version of this game? If so, then (by the pace of development) it's going to be a LONG time before they get enough planes to represent the entire theatre -- by then, the graphics will be obsolete!

If they are working on a Pacific version, why are there all these obscure German planes showing up?

I'm confused!

From what I can take from Gibbage and other 3D modelers..it seem that different packages of ADD-ONs (paid or free, my guess is as good as yours) :

- Luftwaffe 1946 (Possible Fighters/Bombers that might have existed if the war lasted longer)

- Pacific War WW 2 (The reason you see P-38, Zeros and some pacific map objects)

- Western Theatre WW 2 (The reason you see the P-51, B-24, B-17, some british planes (Hope they have the spit and Lancaster!!!) as well as Normandy type of map objects

With these Add-ons out there, it will prolong the IL2 / IL2:FB product 'shelf life' for about 1.5 years at max...time enough to have Oleg & team finish up on the next generation of Flight Sims that he is currently developing.

Again, this is all an educated guess, I haven't spoke with Oleg and/or any 3d Modeler personally...I just take bits and pieces ...connect the dots and got this idea.

I would agree with you. This makes sense to break it up. I hope they do it this way since I will not pay for or want Jap planes. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I'm jealous of whoever it is out there that's flying all these new planes right now! Wish they'd visit HL... although I guess that might not work.

The Yoke allowed the pilot to put more lbs of torque into it with two hands with a wider stance. This helped compensate its heavy roll charactoristics. Also, it helps pull out of dives.

Also, jsut because you see photo's of it does not mean its in the game. It still has a lot of programming to go through. They are still working on programming the P-80!

The L is also being put in, with K-14 gunsight! I love the P-38. My fave aircraft of the war. Im constantly buggin Oleg to make it a good aircraft like it was in real life. It did not shoot down a lot of IAR-80's and Zero's by looks alone.

I for one am looking forward to a Pacific front! I really enjoyed 1942: Pacific Air War. Man what fun in those Zero's, Kates, Nate's, Frank's, Oscar's, F4F's, F6F's, F4U's, Bearcats and Tigercats!

Happy hunting and check six!

Zeros. Excellent!

Zoomin' on Zeros. Killing Kates. Obliterating Oscars. Busting Bettys.

Would be best in a Spitifire, but a Hurricane will do in a pinch.

this is great! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
i can hardly wait for the add on!

I ahte to nit pick but it just dont seem right that the germans are getting all of the heavies (from what i understand FLYABLES) and we cant get the b-17 flyable. I wish Maddox would pick up the cockpit & Gunnery stations on the B-17. I'd GLADLY PAY AN EXTRA 20 BUCKS more than i paid for FB th get a flyable B-17/ & B-24.

the Condor will be flyable right?

OH and could some one please tell me what exactly i have to do to my computer to get FB to Look like this?!/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif
http://www.il2sturmovik.de/ss_fb_dev/02-12/grab0016.jpg

this dont even look like FB to me. my gForce 2 mx/mx 400 & 256 RD RAM aint cutting the mustard apperantly. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

I mean that watter is Awsome!

Bring on the Pacific! i cant wait to put our Jugs over the Luzon again against the Japanese for a historical recration of the real 310th missions. that would be very cool.

Have to have the P-38 Flyable to do the Ardennes, Normandy and the Bridge...LOL

So the flyables have to be done before we get the free add-ons is my thinking. Looks like the free add-on may be close to release.

The Japanese planes will be in the paid for add-on with an enlarged war theatre...probably before Christmas is my guess. Christmas being the best time of year to sell abunch of games /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I sure would like to read about some upgrade or improvements in the FMB. I've pretty well given up on mission building for the time being, because it takes so darn long to build any kind of interesting missions with the current tools in the FMB.

For those wondering, Ubi is putting out the Japanese-localized FB soon and will be including the Zero and Ki-84 on the CD. The rest of us get to download them.

Maddox has been very busy, even contributing the aircraft module for a PT boat game being done by Akella. They have people working on the *next* sim, some folks putting time in on Battlefield Command, working on (supposedly) several add-ons for FB. We're probably seeing seeing screenshots from several projects at once. It's clear that there will be at least a small Western Front map, since we've seen Bastogne ona map and some coastal fortifications in France. Heck, we could get the Dieppe operation.

Ubi will be making all the announcements on October 5th at a Euro sim show. This is all official stuff that's been on this board before posted by people with names in red. Nine days and we'll know much more. I have a sneaking suspicion that they've been keeping things quiet until Microsoft shipped their 2004 flight sim and may be planning to steal their thunder with a big splash of 1C:Maddox goodness.

Apparently a Pacific map plus planes will be part of the free addon...but it seems mostly geared to dogfight rather than anything else.
