Carried their joystick on a flight/through customs? Sorry for the seemingly weird question, but I am going to visit my sister for a holiday on tuesday and she has just bought a new PC. I am tempted to take FB/AEP to "Showcase" it if you like. Plus I'll get to see what this "perfect" business is all about... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif And of course I will get to see how inadequate my own beloved PC is by comparison http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

However, I dont fancy having to fly (in game!) with keys only, which is why I ask this question. Flying From Scotland to Channel Islands - a UK domestic flight, and was just wondering if anyone had carried their Joystick through any airport security and if you have had any problems.... The stick I would take is a MS Precision Pro 2 (I have a FFB2 as well but it is too heavy to carry in hand luggage!)

Cheers

Andrew

While I haven't tried taking my joystick with me on a flight ("I just thought the flight crew might like some backup..."), I imagine that there will be a disproportionate number of flight simmers in the airport who could vouch for your sanity and benign intent.

Do not, however, take the stick out of the box during the flight and make airplane noises...

cheers

They'll probably suspect you of trying to highjack the flight!

I wouldn't join any club that would have ME as member!

I don't know, the X45 makes a sweet club and shield combo. Too bad you aren't taking one of those.

If you do take it on, keep it in your lap, and shake it violently whenever you hit turbulence.

Or if you get a window seat, just keep moving it around and staring out the window. That should liven things up, probably to the point where you'll be needing a club and shield.

I wasn't actually intending this to be a joke thread, however after a few beers I now realise how silly it sounds... LOL! My main reason for the enquiry, is if stopped - how do I show the thing performing its "intended function". Or is it so trivial that they wont bother? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif I am taking a digital camera - no problem doing so with that if you see what I mean....

Imanginary dialogue...

Security: Whats this?
Me: A Joystick for a computer....
Security: Why do you want to carry this?
Me: To See these games working on my sister's new monster PC (waving FB/AEP in his face)
Security: Show us it working then
Me: Ok, got a PC?
Security indicates one of these crappy terminal like things running god knows what.
Me: erm.... what spec is it ? Does it have USB?
Security: eh?
and so on and so on - miss flight cos of this riveting debate! LOL!

or alternatively
Security indicates soopa doopa brand new PC with top spec graphics 3.2 Ghz cpu etc etc running XP.
Me: erm.... what spec is it ? Does it have USB?
Security: Yeah - actually I run AEP myself - fancy a go?
Me: Cool!
Sits whiling away the hours between flights (i have a long-ish wait) All you can hear is FB sound effects - soon there is a crowd..... until the supervisor appears....
