I think the Japanese took some rubber to Germany in a submarine and returned with one of these little gems. I think it flew in Tokyo, but as it was lifting off a bomb from a B-29 burst on the runway. The Do-165A kareened off the runway and struck a milk truck.

So, will we get one?

Vonderschlicker = no
Wienerschleider = maybe
The milk truck = I'm not buying PF if it doesn't feature at least one milk truck with both high and low blower and 2 harmonized
Type 95 7.7mm machineguns. If we can't harmonize the guns, I'll settle for homogenized.

Of course the pilots nicknamed it a Shwanshtooker because of how enormous it was.

SkyChimp as far as I heard Luthier made some great steps forward to model the Vonderschlicker. Rumours says the cockpit is almost done.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gifhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Throttle adjustments aren't possible inflight due to the pilot needing both hands to control the large, center-mounted, stick.

Yeah - but extensive and exhaustive research showed the Schwanstooker was NOT overmodeled..

It was rigorously tested in France just before the war and ...

My fear is that the reported excellent roll-rate of the Vonderschlicker will not be up to par.

Here's a chart:

Make no mistake you people are discussing the Wunder-Schlicker Ws 230 V2

The history of its pilot Uffz. Hermann ├┼ôberluft-Affe is interesting. After his capture by the americans he was subjected to a new mind control experiment run by the USAF in 1948, the main aim to love all things well...american.

Here's a picture taken at that time.

http://www.xs4all.nl/~rhorta/TEMP/space_10073456.jpeg

After he was released from the program Hermann changed his name to Harry Skye-Monkey and tried his luck at several ventures. He then applied to one of his old (ahum german) friends Werner von. B. at what had become NASA.

He was introduced to the space program and underwent the usual Astronaut training.

http://www.xs4all.nl/~rhorta/TEMP/chimp_0.jpg

Although the physical tests went well he failed on the psychological part, the reason being complex but probably caused by the mental stress of having to cope with his previous german ├┼ôberness and newly induced love of all things american.

Unfortunetaly he was flushed out of the program and disappeared. Only to be found sixty years later hanging around sim boards posting under various assumed names.

Although there might be false pictures of him floating around claiming service in the Pacific, these are all fakes.

This is the ape with a chip on his shoulder:

I think I've got an old photo of the Vonderschlicker somewhere. Its a bit grainy but shows the widely spread undercarriage that made it so famous.
Also a 3/4 rear shot of the 1A model with dropped flaps. If I can untie my other arm I'll post them for everyone to see.

I dont care if I never see another grainy photo of a Vonderslicker in any of its variations with its wideley spread undercarriage.. especially from a 3/4 Rear perspective...BtW the 1A variant doesnt have flaps..Because of those two huge forward slung pontoons it didn't need 'em, it was Amphibious!

your confusing the Weinerschleider with the Vondersclicker.. common mistake as they went hand in hand.

Now that PF is finally here, perhaps Luthier and Oleg have earned one each?

You really expect every single AC that participated anywhere near the Pacific don't you?

Ooh er.....

Actually it participated in all theatres and was a great comfort to the troops (I nearly had one in a theatre myself once).

Which has no meaning at all and does not exist...

anyway - I never figured out what's so funny about making up a plane that never flew and just inventing some stories about it... must be my humour I guess ROFL ;-)

Only if they add the milk truck too... Got to stick to historical accuracy... right? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
