KI (Japanese word for spirit),

The Japanese split there airforce into two groups. The Army and Navy but I noticed that there seems to be more enfersis on the Navy side http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.

Any Chance of having the:

Nate pre 1940 fighter. Fighting over China against the Chinese Polikarpov I-16 I-153 and the Flying Tigers in there P-40s and the Gladiator.

The Ki-44 Toujyo extreemly fast and powerful fighter intercepter for shooting down US bombers.

And the Ki-45 Toryuu Bf110 type bomber with heavy cannon for strafting.

well , the Ki44 is on progress , so, if its not in release it will be propably in the first patch.

and about Ki-45 , yes, very much needed with all that allied twoengined stuff flyable . it would be the only roughly comparable attack plane of the japanes side http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
i hope we havent to wait for it such long as we had to for the Bf110 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

i also hope the will put in an Army bomber , like Ki-21 ore Ki-49 , as an AI plane.

I hear there is a Nate in the works too. But may not be in the first release.

Yea, I'm with Jieitai_Tsunami on this one! I am fascinated by some of the Japanese plane types, (even if they never saw much/any combat).

I'm in the camp that more is better and I'm looking forward to trying many of these planes that I read about as a kid but couldn't even find scale models to build!

Just as an aside, I understand how much work (I think) it takes to make a plane flyable in this game. I don't want to appear greedy, I'm just in the camp that more is better! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/heart.gif

Absolutely!

Can't forget the Ki-43 Hayabusa, the standard (and most numerous) IJAAF fighter throughout the war. Then there is the Ki-84 - which was heavily involved in the battles over the Philipines in 1944. And lastly the Ki-61, first used in limited numbers in New Guinea in 1943/4, but also the main IJAAF interecptor over the Home Islands in late 1944 and 1945.

If you wanna know what Ki's I'm hoping to see...

Ki-21: Mitsubishi medium bomber entering service 1938. Significant role in the earlier war years, relegated to secondary duties by 1945. 2064 built, codename "Sally".

Ki-27: Nakajima fighter entering service 1938. Effective early on in the war, relegated to air defence from 1943. 3,399 built, codename "Nate" (or "Abdul" originally in the CBI theatre).

Ki-30: Mitsubishi single-engine light bomber entering service 1938. Very effective early in the war. 704 built, codename "Ann".

Ki-36: Tachikawa ground-attack and army co-op plane entering service 1939. 1334 built, codename "Ida".

Ki-44 Shoki: Nakajima fighter entering service 1941. A very good design. 1225 built, codename "Tojo".

Ki-45 Toryu: Kawasaki twin-engine heavy fighter entering service 1942. Most well-known as a night-fighter. 1698 built, codename "Nick".

Ki-48: Kawasaki twin-engine light bomber entering service 1940. Withdrawn from frontline in 1944. 1964 (perhaps a few more) built, codename "Lily".

Ki-49 Donryu: Nakajima medium bomber entering service 1941. 819 built, codename "Helen".

Ki-51: Mitsubishi ground-attack plane entering service 1940. 2385 built, codename "Sonia".

Ki-67 Hiryu: Mitsubishi medium bomber entering service 1944. Extensive use up to the end of the war. 698 built, codename "Peggy".

Ki-100: Kawasaki fighter entering service 1945, a developed radial-engine version of the Ki-61 Hien. Arguably the best Japanese fighter, but a little too late to make an impact. 371 built, no apparent codename (?)

Ki-102: Kawasaki twin-engine heavy fighter enterine sevice 1944, a developed version of the Ki-45 Toryu. Used over Okinawa. Codename "Randy", not sure how many produced.

It is already an absolute certainty that the Ki-43 Hayabusa, Ki-61 Hien, and Ki-84 Hayate will be flyables.

I think I do remember seeing the Nate some where, but the Ki-44 and Ki-45 were very important aircraft in my opinion.

I guess the Ki-44 will be in later. Though the Ki-45 is a very important and useful IJA bomber.

And I am asking because I just got a book about Japanese army aces http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.

Could you add some artistic, airfix or photos of thouse Snootles? http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Here are the ones we have:

Ki43 the army's Zero coming after the Nate

The later Ki43 had a reflector gun sight that was more reliable.

I totally agree...there does seem to be an allied 'emphersis' no doubt and all of the planes Jieitai names are necessary IJ machines.

Yes Ki~27 please http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

Remember we used Yak~1 as Spit~1 before AEP, been thinking how to use Ki~43 as Ki~27.
Maybe with landing gear key disabled, open cockpit key disabled, and maybe fly with combat
flaps down. At least then somebody can make campaign starting you out in "Ki~27" and you can
fly along with the real AI Ki~27s.

I am confident that many aircraft on both sides will find their way into PF through new releases, much the same way we have seen in IL2/FB/AEP.
And don't forget "Topsy", the Japanese transport plane!

My sig speaks my preference. I am really interested to see what I can do with the Toryu's odd armament. Two 12.7mm mgs and a 20mm is like a lightly armed P-38. Yet, a 20mm and a 37mm equipped toryu..and well, lets just say PT boats and bombers better hope they have good gunners. As for B-29s, assuming I get up to the alt in time..Toryu was always a good ramming plane. Hope its patched into PF soon after release.

I've been flying the Ki-45 in Target rabual and it is a great bomber but by no means lives up to the Beau fighter in fighter performance.
A Japanese web site lists it as a 'Two man experimental fighter' but I don't see it as one.
It is better than the betty though and can shoot down fighters http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif...
I never knew how useful two enginened bomber/fighters were until I flew the Beau and Toryu http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif.
