It will probably be based on something we havent seen yet but that looks nice!!

Oleg made a comment at a recent show that the terrain in his next sim will look similar to that of Wartime Command (previously Battlefield Command), so yes it may look like that. Actually that is why the BoB announcement didn't surprise me at all, why would he say this if he was doing Med or Pacific. He said it would look similar but "better from the plane's perspective." Should be sweet either way.

Sorry, but that screen looks too much like FB's graphics engine on steroids. I really hope the engine ends up being better than that. I'm pretty sure Oleg can do it.

I was at the Birmingham flight sim show and i believe that the sim was going to be brand new from the ground up,complete new software and programming,nothing to do with f/b or any other sim,well that was the way i interpreted it.
Sounded very interesting indeed,i suppose thats why we have 18 months to wait.

The sim will be based on a graphics engine called Merlin IV. It will feature double vortex shading and AAA4 texture mapping. I know this because I can look into the feature.

2005 it should look a hell of alot better then battlefield commands low polys, on 3dgamers they have a couple screensshots that say its 1cs BOB it looks like the same terrain in FB but had screens of the hurri bf110 komet its probally not the game. I cant wait for airframe overstressing, dynamic weather and improved flight physics.

I'm pretty sure it will look good - both IL2 & FB have awesome gfx - I'm more worried about the sound... - sure hope they'll make that work from the start.

I just hope that the map sizes don't change. Instead of wasting time creating larger maps, I hope 1C stays with the current sizes and packs more detail in.

So all you guys have the latest PC hardware right now? Yes-no? Does that mean you'll have the latest hardware when BOB is released?

If your saying no to either of these questions. I wouldn't ask for too much.

Just give me a game that looks pretty good, sounds good, and mostly runs SMOOTH!

You are beeing a little fatalist on that remark, but yes, most of us are aware of that "small" detail.

And its exactly based on those two graphic parameters you described, that i invite you to follow Baldie jr link.

I'm sure you'l be quite impressed with how the little itsy bitsy thing works and looks.

I don't impress easily, and neither that render is top of the line, but still, based on OGL, it's very good looking, very small (texture wise), and should be extremely smooth.

Heck, the thing is designed for MMORPG's, so you can imagine the size.


Of course if you want a performance killer, but with photo realistic looks, then follow the link i gave to Baldie.

I hope they'll spend a lot of time optimising this area of BoB. BoB's terrain engine is based on Wartime Command's terrain engine, and that's based on FB's terrain engine, which is one of the worst areas of the game. It looks lovely, but if you get anywhere near a reasonably large/detailed town it slows to a halt. Everything on my has to be turned down to 'Lego graphics mode' on my PC to be able to fly over Stalingrad, and even then it's not brilliantly smooth.

I think the terrain at the top of the thread looks pretty damn good IMHO (and I am pretty picky about terrain). If BoB is any better than that I will be pleased.

Current map size is too small for me, even Leningrad.

I hope BOB add-on(too far? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif ) include late war and we could fly B-17 missions without limit. London to Berlin without additional stop and loading.
