It's really amazing to see a piece of history while sitting at my desk in Monterey, CA, let alone something as rare as an airworthy B-17 and B-24. For anybody who lives around here, there's a display up at the airport and rides available (if only I had the $400 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif). This is the first leg of their journey around the country. I found the schedule online. A definite must see if you have the chance:

Makes me want to go play AEP. I think I'll go do that http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I saw it when it was in Michigan along with the B-24. Walked through both and loved it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I did the same thing when they were at Pontiac airport. I also sat across the street at the end of the strip for there landing aproach! the roar of those beasts at about 65 feet over your head is astounding!!!

my wife and i went to see the pair of them when they were at palm beach international a few years back. standing at 6'5" and weighing in (then) at 260, i barely made it through the 17. now with my beer belly, i think i'd get stuck in the bomb rack! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

i also heard the 17 fly over when i was working in the yard - soitenly knew it wasn't the standard private plane we see all the tyme... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

One day I saw a funny looking plane way up. A harder look it was a B-17 how could you miss that tail. It circled around winchester airport long enough for me to get on the end of the runway. I have some sweet pics I need to dig them up.

Thats Nine'o nine. Took a walk through about 2 weeks ago at an airshow in San Diego. Standing at the top gunner position shed a tear in my eye. Good to see hear still up, her take off was aborted a few weeks ago due to a unknown engine problem.

Did anyone see that or was it just me?
