Hoping that the F4U-4 Corsair is included. It should be. It saw service with the U.S. forces in the Pacific.

I wouldn't think that the -4 is a priority as it was only in service the last four months of the war.
But as we're getting the -1D it's not totally unlikely that we'll get the -4 too.

C'mon. I'm sure they'll include all the variants they can. It not a whole lot more work compared to making a new plane.

Yellownet, hush. Before you said last six months of war now you say last 4 months. The F4U-4 did indeed saw combat and downed many japs, more than what you can say about a lot of the other planes in AEP (ta, I-185, Go, Siamese ugly azz bf, etc...). So be quiet.

This interview was on Nat'l Public Radio (npr) in mid January.
A female was interviewing Marine Corps General Reinwald
about a Boy Scout visit to his base.
She was told the Boy Scouts were to be taught about guns.
She asked, "But you are equiping them to be violent killers." The General replied,
"Well you're equiped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you?"
The radio went silent and the interview ended. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif

I bet that Yellownet is going to fly only jap planes online. Only way I can explain his nonsense.

As others have noted, we have planes in this game which saw a lot less combat time than the F4U-4, ie. TA-152, 109Z, MIG-3U, I-185, Go-229, He-162, etc. If they can be included, then an aircraft which saw a lot of service and a lot of combat can be included. 4 months is the same amount of time the 190A9 saw, as well as the MW-50 model of the 190D9, as well as the 3 gun La-7, and only 1 month less than the time the 109K4 saw in combat.

Perhaps its the thought of a 446 mph American plane with a climb of 4150 feet per minute and very good energy retention and high speed maneuverability that people don't like? A plane which some say was the best American fighter aircraft of the war?

http://home.att.net/~historyzone/F4U-4.html

I don't personally agree, but the gentleman is entitled to his opinion. In any case, the F4U-4 was a very good aircraft.

F4U-4, if it saw combat for 4 months, i am all for including it.
The Corsair belongs to my favorite planes and the more variants, the better.

There is not , and never has been, a General Reinwald in the USMC. No USMC officer would ever speak so discourteously to a lady, and no USMC officer would make so stupid a remark.

I am Ok in including so-late warplanes as long as a specific month/year is included in their description. Reason for this is because I don't wanna see a '45 corsair flying in '44...like u see in servers (p-51 in '42 anyone?)

I however don't see much "need" or interest 0personal) in these late war planes because the Japanese were very much defeated in '45... However, anything up to '44 should be priority.

Again, just my opinion.

F4U-4B: This airplane was equipped with four 20-mm cannons instead of 50-caliber machine guns (used in the early F4U-4 production) and eight 5-inch rockets under wings.

Lookie out 190s and Ki84s! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/784.gif

Im all for it as long as it doesn't take the place of all the good bombers used. And especially as many versions of the Wildcat as possible. I can't wait to get my hands on those Wildcats, its too bad navy planes had such boring paintschemes thoughhttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
