Massive Stuttering/FPS drops every 2 minutes. My fps goes from 60 to 20 for 5-10 secs and then back to 60, then again after 2-4 mins repeats.

Playing on Medium

Vsync OFF

max FPS set to 60

PC Specs:

GPU: GTX 960 4GB
CPU: AMD FX 8350 4.0 GHz
RAM. 16 GB ram
HDD. 500 GB - (Installed on)
SSD: 120 GB
PSU: 400W

I have a question. How on earth can a 400W PSU run what you have? LOL.

I can second this, playing 60+ FPS on high and then every 2min i drop to 1-12 fps and the game literally brakes its self, i can barely move i can't heal i can't shoot worth anything and it's gotten me killed several times when i've gone to open a door while getting shot at, my FPS drops to 1 and i can't open the door, move or heal myself as i get shot and i end up dying.

CPU: FX8350 8core 4ghz
GPU: R9 280x 3gb GDDR5
HDD: Western Digital Black 1Tb
RAM: 16gb Gskill 1600Mhz
OS: Windows 10 64bit
PSU: can't remember (too lazy to look) but it's a 600-650w PSU

sometimes it's not as bad but usually it's every few min, also my CPU temp rarely goes over 65c my GPU doesn't go over 80 and the CPU only gets to about 60-70% utilisation and GPU haven't looked at, ram sits at like... 30%? something rarely low considering i've got 16gb. but still, this game has been in development for years and it's released to PC with this crap, it's pretty pathetic.

I have massive FPS drops also that occur for no reason, from time to time, sometimes at 30 secs, sometimes at 2 minutes ... my spec :

AMD FX 8150 ~3.6Ghz
8 GB Ram
Video Radeon HD 7850 (is a better card than the minimum required)
HDD not important imo

I play on low / low / low vsync off

Any thoughts ?

I'm also receiving this stuttering/freezing fps drops. Seems to happen after 5-10 minutes of gaming. Then the stuttering starts to occur every few mins.

As you can see my temps are all good. But once you look at the GPU usage you can see the dips where I lose major fps. The CPU usage also correlates with the dips on the GPUs. You can also see the RAM usage slowly creeping up over time. Maybe possible memory leak?

Love the game, but please ubisoft fix this!

I have the following

i5 6600k
EVGA GTX 980 TI 6 GB
16 GB of RAM

First off I did the whole press V to have the game figure out your settings inside the graphics part of the settings. Anyways I will be at 59 FPS in the loading screen and then drop to about 40 FPS and then all of a sudden below 30. Furthermore, my character keeps walking even after I stop pressing to walk. Also my CPU usage goes up into the 70-100% range and my memory goes up to around 5-7 GB being used and this is all with just the game running and obvious Uplay.

I've noticed an FPS drop during certain portions of the game as well; both during my personal free roam, and in the dark zone. Interestingly, did not run into this issue at all during betas. I consistently run around 85fps, but during stutters, FPS drops to 10-20 as well. I've noticed this before and after 3/10 game patch; and with the current Nvidia driver 364.51, and previous 364.xx driver.

Specs:
I7-6600K
GTX 980 TI
16GB RAM
V-Sync OFF (running on G-Sync monitor)

Ran the optimizer both in-game, and through the Nvidia GeForce Experience.

In the same boat as the others. Even while on loading screens, I sit there and watch the fps counter spike up and down from 120+ to 75-90.
Game runs smooth and then the stuttering kicks in maybe 15-20 minutes in. Sometimes they only last for a second or less, other times maybe 2-3 seconds.

Tried everything under the sun since day one to figure it out. Set as admin, fiddled with my logitech mouse/keyboard/headset, played with graphical settings in the nvidia panel and in game, reinstalled c++ and directx, tried limiting the amount of cores that the game is allowed to use.I'm out of ideas. But, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one going crazy about it.

@chasebassist the same thing for me, but the spikes only last 2-4 seconds

Soooooooo, did anyone figure out how to fix this thing ?

capping fps at 30 helps it recover from the dips but it's still bad. it feels like i'm trying to run the game on some onboard graphics on a $200 office machine.

I'm having the same issue!
Game starts off fine, but after a bit, starts bogging down to the point of being unplayable. I checked my task manager and it showed that the game was using just over half of my 16gb ddr3, and that the system was using the rest. The memory usage shows at 98%, and there was nothing on my system using that much memory. i7 4790K was at about 45% usage. Also running dual GTX 980' in SLI, 4GB each. OS is win 10. Monitor is an ultrawide at 3440x1440.
This is really bumming me out. I've cranked down the graphics, with no change.
Anyone else dealing with this? No other game I play does this. None.. I can run Fallout 4 maxed.

I was using nvidia drivers 358.91 the first two day, with this issue, and upgraded to the newest drivers yesterday. and it's still doing it.

I shut the game down, and the task manager shows ram maxed out until I reboot the sys. Been gaming on this system for the past year and nothing has ever done this.

I'm getting similar issues but it is from the moment I boot the game up. As soon as the ubisoft logo starts to show I start getting these stutters.

AMD 9370 4.4ghz
Nvidia 970 4gb
16gb ram

It makes it absolutely unplayable, and at this point I've played so much I can't even refund it from steam because I've put too many hours into fixing it.

It's probably related to the RAM Leak issue (see above).
I have the same symptoms. What happens is : the game fills your memory and then uses your harddrive as RAM - which results in stuttering. It then cleans that and repeats.

This FIX WORKED on my system...

Turn off auto page file, and assign allotted memory.

If someone can explain how to do that, since the internet gave some pretty poor advice, that would be great.

I'm having the same problem as everyone else is. Massive stutters.

i5 4690k @ 4.5 ghz
2 GTX 970s in SLI
8gb DDR3 1600
Windows 10

I run the game in 1440p with most settings on high. I get around 50 fps, but then it stutters down to single digits for a few seconds, and shoots right back to 50 fps.
I've tried all suggestions I have come across, including page file, drivers, changing cpu core affinity, turning SLI off, changing resolution/graphics.....nothing works.
I have noticed my cpu runs 100% the whole time I'm playing, my 2 970s are usually around 60% while in SLI.

I also had this issue in the beta, but I figured it was due to it being beta. But since release, this has been my experience. This needs to be addressed. This issue is all over the Ubisoft forums, reddit, youtube, etc.. Ubisoft still hasn't even acknowledged the problem, let alone fix it. Hell, just a "Hey, we're looking into it" would be nice.

For anyone with two Nvidia cards running in SLI: Try to disable SLI and see if it fixes it.

In my post "Wierd distortion effect" (http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/1403016-I-get-a-wierd-disortion-effect-when-playin-The-Division), I go thru my process off fixing all the problems I had and the only thing that has fixed the FPS freezes so far have been turning off SLI and just running it on one of my cards.

It MAY fix it for you, it may not. However, turning of the SLI shouldn't be a fix.. but it is what it is.
Let's try to make the problem known to them, as they have yet to post about it in the "Known Issues"-post.

Same here..

i7 3930k
16GB Corsair Vengeance
Asus ROG Gene IV
Evga GTX 980 Ti
Samsung 850 evo 250 GB
Coolermaster silent gold 1000W

Drops to 20-0 from 70-90 fps on ultra. It occurs only in the DZ. Or I am 10 steps further or I am dead. Randomly between 20 sec or 40 sec.

As many of us have said in this thread, disabling SLI doesn't fix the issue. While I appreciate your suggestion, it simply doesn't work.

Guys, PLEASE edit your posts with what windows version you're running. 8? 8.1? 10? 64bit or 32 bit. So far, seams allot of people with windows 10 are having issues.

Since launch, Ive had to start the game in windowed mode.. If i try in Fullscreen, it freezes my entire PC.. I meet all the recommended requirements.. Once in game, i can go ahead and set full screen, and all my settings to High/Ultra.. But i must always set windowed before logging out, or it will lock up the computer when i try to log in again.. Otherwise, if i DC, or forget, i have to go into Geforce Experience to adjust the settings beforehand. Also, no matter what settings i have, it can take upwards of 3 to 5 minutes from Uplay, to game play, before i can actually play the game.. Its unreal.. Loading into a group, can also take 2 to 3 minutes..

Back on topic., the past 2 days, im suddenly getting FPS drops in the single digits whenever i fast travel, or join a group! If i change the settings to/from windowed/fullscreen, it will 'usually' fix it.. But its really annoying.. I cant shake the feeling that this game is still not properly optimized. Im waiting for a real patch, its been a few weeks now.. Trying to change clothing in game, causes the backround, and lighting to fallout, making it near impossible to see anything. I can live with that, but the framerate crap is pretty bad..

As i said, i meet all recommended requirements, not minimum.. Theres no reason for this, unless these suggested/recommended specs are incorrect.. Which would not at all surprise me!

I dont really have FPS issues during play, it seems to be triggered, or logged in that way.. Changing the setting back n forth, or relogging fixes it usually..

Win10 64
evga geforce 660ti 1 gig dedicated
Intel Core i5 4690k 3.5ghz quad core
24gig ram
water cooling system

Runs great when not experiencing aforementioned issues.. teetering around 40fps but never reaching 50 with settings mostly high, with a few ultra, and framerate locked at 60...
