a few questions about hosting here - mostly for the serveradmins - any info or suggestion welcome though

situation is that i just got a good deal to host a server in this florida based company. the idea is to have a stats page and voicecomms and the setting will be SB + MP + short range icons

1. - it will run on a 2 ghz celeron with 512 ram which should run the dedicated server just fine but would you reccomend hosting other services like stats or voicecomms on the same machine ?

2. - i will host an old campaign with 7 maps (1 starting map and 3 for each side to progress to) and i had written these HUGE .txt files for FBDaemon which contain all icon settings - why the hell does the dedicated server not obey FBDaemons settings ?

3. are there any issues regarding the new dedicated server and FBDaemon/hyperlobby that are not discussed on the FBDaemon forum or in Crazyivans good dedicated server thread ? (i will post a thread at FBDaemon lobby but any quick DO/DO NOTs would be fine

4. i see that 8k or 10k netspeed settings are best - i will have 32 players .... which is it?

any new thread you can link too that discusses this ? i have the link too crazyivans thread and cant find any more by search but...... you never know

thanks in advance - Johann_Thor

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

thx anywayz - i posted on FBDaemon lobby. and thx for the dedicated server guide - very useful for someone catching up on things like me now.

still any idea about netspeed for 32 players - i set 8000 but i hear so many different statements - one server makes dsl/cable setting mandatory

hmmm

Hi J.
I don`t make anyone change anything lol, i`m only suggesting. 5000 is my, personally, client rate and 10000 is my server rate.

Well, i did it for a while with TS...but it does affect smoothness when runs on the same machine as dedicated - at least from my experiances.. looking at public servers now to host TS.
