Amazing story about special experten Hajo Hermann whom only score 9 planes in air but his bigger effort in Luftwaffe. Let me copy and paste a article from website how he did cause many ships sunk: "February 1941, his group deployed to Sicily and flew missions against Malta and Greece. In a daring raid on the Greek port of Piraeus, Herrmann placed a single bomb into a loaded munitions ship, causing an explosion which sank 11 ships and made the port unusable for months." There's link you can read whole about him. http://www.luftwaffe-experten.com/pilots_special/h_hermann.html

I read somewhere there was a similar thing in India, I think it was Bombay. An ammo-loaded ship exploded, sunk a few other ships, and razed a lot of buildings. The population was so terrified that they adopted a new time measuring-before and after the explosion.

Some things are worth fighting for...
And most of them wear miniskirts.

Yeah, something similar happened in Halifax, Canada. A convoy was ready to head out, and one of the ships carrying ammo caught fire (I may be confusing things, but supposedly a german u-boat snuck into the harbour and started shooting). When the ammo went off it obliterated a large part of the city.

"Oh bliss, bliss and heaven. Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeosity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest spun heaven metal, or like silvery wine flowing in a space ship, gravity all nonsense now. As I slooshied I knew such lovely pictures."

I don't think it was a U-boat but a collision in the harbour itself that set fire to the munitions ship the "Mont Blanc". It is supposed to be the largest non-nuclear man-made explosion to have occured on this planet.
