Heya,

I was wondering if the Netherlands could also be added as a nationality in this upcoming pacific sim?
My knowledge on exactly what equipment they used and where they were attacked etc. is rather lacking. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif
But I do know the Dutch did fight the Japanese and having them selectable as a nation would be great.
Also I believe they used the orange triangle first but later on switched to the red white and blue flag because the orange triangle looked too much like the Japanese markings.

True, the Dutch did fly aircraft in the Pacific/South East Asia region, flying B25's at least based here in Australia, against the Japanese.

Agree! At the moment there are many Dutch skins available for download, for their P-40s, P-36s and Buffalos. I don't know if we'll get NEI map for 1942 scenarios, but part of Solomons will be there for sure, so flying Dutch Warhawks would be fun http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The dutch flew B-25's (and P-40 N's) out of australia and gained some fame using the B-25 against japanese shipping with 'skip bombing' techniques. We allready got the Brewster Buffalo's and AI curtiss Hawk's wich where operated out of the Dutch east-indies before it was over-ran. But, the obsolete Martin B-10 was also used by the Dutch and it would be great to have that bomber in the game. I've got some research concerning the Dutch in the far-east. So, any developper wich is intrested can PT or mail me.

IIRC the bigest air battle of the war up until that time was February 19th, 1942 over Java, Netherlands East Indies.

Dutch Buffaloes, P-36's, P-40s vs TAG and their A6M2s.

It would be a shame not to be able to re-create this, inasmuch as we already have all the planes.

Thanks for the info guys. Much appreciated.

Chris,
I read about that battle in Saburo Sakai's book (Samurai!). If I recall correctly there were about 40 Dutch fighters engaging 21 Zeros.
It would indeed be very interesting reflying that battle in Pacific Fighters.
Hopefully we do get Dutch national markings with PF, would be great.

I whole-heartedly agree. Plus a Martin B-10 would be cool to have. I love those early and pre-war birds..... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

MG-
Yes you're very close, I dug up SAMURAI! and Sakai-san is saying on page 80 that 23 Zeros from Tainan Air group vs "at least 50 Allied fighters" in 3 Vee formations.
It would, indeed make for a great mission if we get a map of Java.

Ah ok been a while since I've read the book. I'm sure there's 'Dutchmen' in the book somewhere though http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif. Must have mistaken this fight with something else in the book.

A Java map would be great too.
