Yeah nice, but my new Radeon 9800 only (ONLY!) cost me 125. And it's heaps better than my old NVidia GeForce3. So perhaps I'll get an NVidia 6800 when a) I win the lottery http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif or b) when it's superseded by something better. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/cry.gif
Cheers!

I have seen enough Perfect water in gaming magazines to drown. Would love to open cockpit and breath in water clouds for a change...

true reflective aircraft - better resolutions for seeing, etc... better ways to create contrast between trees and aircraft, etc.. that is what I hope to see.

When you get closer to an aircraft it would be easier to see - not harder

~thanks~ PraetorHonoris, Awsum nice lookin overcast. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

I heard LOMAC butchered their overcast grafix and nobody could play with the stuff turned on
until a 3rd Party made new overcast textures or something.

Sad about LOMAC, cos our old FB Kuban mountains have more detail than that LOMAC overcast but
Kuban runs with extreme high framerate on my lol ATI 9200 video card.

Coral Sea:: <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>
Yorktown was operating to the south of a frontal zone in an area of light haze with one to three tenths cumulus, base 1500 feet and top 6000 feet, visibility was 12 - 17 miles, winds were E. to ESE. 17 - 23 knots.

At the enemy position, a frontal area, which had been in our vicinity the day before, gave squally weather. The visibility varied from 2 to 15 miles. Winds were ESE, 15 - 20 knots. Cumulus, Alto-cumulus, and Cirrus clouds covered the area. The cloud cover and squally weather aided one CV to avoid attack but it also helped our planes to escape enemy fighters.

It is estimated that the enemy had a Combat Air Patrol of at least 15 to 18 Zero fighters over the two CV's. A major factor in keeping our losses to a minimum was the close proximity of two large cumulus clouds into which our planes flew as soon as they completed their attack.

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
The first cumulus clouds described, topping at 6,000 feet, are exactly like our FB clouds.
The "large" cumulus at the target were probably much larger.

Well, when BoB is released we all should have PCs, which can handle such graphics, I hope.

PH, that is one box that flight simmers can think themselves out of. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Look at our FB ground textures, especially the large and bulky Kuban mountains in the south~east corner of our FB Kuban map. These give very high fps on my ATI 9200. The same basic grafix tech can be used for clouds but be even more simple and even higher fps. Imagine a whole range of Kuban mountains elevated 2km up into the air, green texture made white, and given a flat bottoms. This would be how to think of large flight sim clouds having very high performance on our computers today.

We can run large and fairly realistic clouds now. We could run such "new" clouds two years ago with my ATI 9200. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-wink.gif ....but the UBI flight sim marketing made sure that I never learned about IL~2/Fb until last year. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

I can't really play LOMAC with my video card, but the LOMAC forum said that the developers messed up their overcast cloud grafix bad. They probably tried something "new" and it didn't work. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I dunno about that, but I know NOT to make cloud performance judgements from LOMAC.
