Any word on where the wings are? Wonder if this could be made air worthy again.

On one of the pics the wing is present, and hopefully this beauty will be fully restored sometime in the future! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

The Smithsonian will eventually restore the whole thing. The last time I saw it the tail had just been rebuilt because it was rapidly deteriating and needed help fast. The tail (and integral fuselage plug) is wood, as are the flaps and outboard gun bay doors, although it never had OTBD guns (same config as V18/U2 W.Nr. 0040 CF+OY illustrated in Monogram Close-Up 24 p.30) If anyone is interested in pics I gotem.

Things happen slowly at Smithsonian - remarkably underfunded. They are presently hundreds of millions of dollars behind in building maintainance. Moving to Udvar-Hazy (no idea how thats spelled) also got in the way. The 229 needs restored also, but thats a whole other topic. The aircraft are being restored in order of furthest decay, so they should be getting back to the Shinden (J7W1) canard soon. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Will one of my favs, the Do-335, ever be displayed? I there was one restored in the 70's and was temporarily loaned for display at a museum(in Munich?) in Deutschland. I think the Pfeil has since been returned, but I know little else.

Interesting thought here.. The Wright Patterson Ta152H0/1 had been modified with the alteration of the Stab for safety reasons.. now was this done BEFORE they tested it or after, or a combination of both? How accurate can their performance data be if they were using a degraded AC? Just curious as to how it might effect the validity of test dat on her frrom NACA or other sources..
