Yes, if I could fly as often as I do with FB and if I got a decent warbird (Spithttp://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif) and not something like a Storch. Don't get me wrong, i've got nothing against the Storch, but...well...you know.

if you have about a grand an hour to spend, go for it. Buy a yak3 with a allison engine they are going for $165,000 now which is very cheap for a warbird. 4 years ago they were 60-80k for a yak3

Actually, I wouldn't. I have a PPL and a small amount of hours since I got the ticket in 2000, so I know how expensive just regular flying is. Besides, flying one of those birds is a lot harder ( I imagine ) than flying one in AEP!! Even if I had the money, to be ready to fly something bigger, faster than your average Cessna/Piper, I'd want to have at least 1000 hours logged with a instrument, commmercial and twine engine rating. And also an aerobatic and tail-dragger sign-offs for sure. And at the age of 46, with a financial budget like mine, I'll have to relegate the whole idea to my dreams and fantasies. Flying sims like this one is as close as I'll likely get!!! If I were a multi-millionaire and 10 years younger, I have to say I'd be highly tempted though.

I'd do both.

I have thought about this one before. I would love to own a Corsair, but like so many of the above posters I will never have the money, and it would take some doing just to get to the point where you would be certified to fly a warbird. Just having a regular PPL wouldn't even come close. But the thing that I always get back to is the maintenance. Can you imagine what it would take to keep a warbird in good condition? I get p-ssed if my weedeater won't crank. I can just imagine how I would feel if I couldn't get my F4U to behave!
