That looks awesome. I wonder, if everybody had that would we still see the packet loss and warping we see at times online now?

Happy you have 3!?
I'm ecstatic about finally getting a 750 kb/s lines in a few days, as opposed to my current 512 kb/s. So shut up about your 3 bloody mb/s already!

Sorry, just venting. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Holy Cow! (sorry my Hindu friends)

"In Japan, Yahoo BB goes a step further, trumpeting a full 45-megabits-per-second offering for a cool $37 per month" http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif
I pay more than that for 512 Kbps

In fact if I were to upgrade to the current UK limit for Cable broadband which is 2 Megabit per second then I would be paying 50 a month(US $92)

Yeah, it's very true.

I've been living in Japan for three years now and one of the best things about Japan is the state of its broadband services.

Up until this year I had a Yahoo BB 12MB/s service but I now share a 100MB/s fiber-optic service with some others (there are now a million fiber-optic connections in Japan according to a newspaper article yesterday). I think it'll become standard within a few years. It has gotten a lot cheaper since I arrived here.

The standard broadband connection now, as it says in the article above is about 45MB/s.

Out of interest, I read last year that the national telephone company NTT had developed the technology to have 1 Gigabyte/second connections. Compare that with a 56K modem!

It certainly is a different world here. And the fact that broadband is extremely good value and sold on a flat monthly rate makes it all the better. No per megabyte overuse charges.

The other exceptional thing about Japan is the women, but that's another story... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/53.gif

Ciao,

Nutcase

PS Let me know if you wanna know about 'the other story'. I can post some very nice pics. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/353.gif Oops, sorry little one. You're quite right.

Yes, though maybe less often. Regardless of how good your local connection is, point to point traffic is still dependant on the internet backbone having sufficient bandwidth to handle the total demand (you + eveyone else).
