Really?
Hey! Censorship is alive and well here! Why am I not able to reply to skychimps posting, is it because I'm censored?
You get a load of babble that basically confirms what I said - the 10 th AF was an AF on paper!!! And Skychimp has scanned some onto our screens to prove it! Even the official history says it was only an airforce on paper for all of 1942. Then a predominantly STRATEGIC BOMBER FORCE - just like I said, thanks for that!
Still can't see Imphal, Kohima and Arakan mentioned anywhere. Why is still nobody quoting the USAAF official history here?
Of course the IJA had more men, and consequently lost more men, in the huge China, India, Burma theatre. Its 99 percent land whilst the Pacific is 99 per cent water!!!

So skychimp is a cool guy and he's got a library full of AMERICAN histories has he? Oh well he must be right then!! This is really funny. Is that why he didn't even know where Arakan and Imphal were, laughable arrogance.
I'm not going to even bother to tell you what I do in this sphere, because I'm not a bragger, but you would sit up and take notice.

I don't class the Philippines as Pacific Islands they are in the PHILIPPINE SEA!!!!! I regard this as a US Army campaign NOT part of the USMC/USN island-hopping campaign. Jeez this is unbelievable!

You do have maps over there right?

I was talking about the likes of Marshalls and Gilberts etc, I even quoted Tarawa at one stage I believe.

Anyway, has he allowed for the IJA deaths through decease and starvation in Burma? Of course not, they are NOT regarded as combat casualties. They actually outnumbered combat deaths in this 3 1/2 year campaign.

Even so his Philippines figure is grossly inaccurate. What percentage of that conveniently round figure he quoted in the Philippines were actually frontline IJA troops? There was a LARGE support organisation, along with Air and Naval elements. Remember nothing much had happened here pre-Sept 1944. It was the Japanese equal of Pearl harbour in that region. How many frontline Army troops were held there? His figures are once again misleading.

How did they get them all there when the sealanes were virtually closed? Is he saying they run a submarine shuttle or something from Indo-China? Because adding his figures together to other quoted sources for various theatres (Nafziger OOB series) seems to mean that the IJA was actually way bigger than it really was. How convenient.

However One thing is indesputable, there were only 3000 US soldiers in Burma, gee my local amateur football ground holds more than this.

Thanks to that posting on JAAF units in Burma we now know he was wrong on that as well. Remember how he said they had more units in New Guinea? Oops, still he is a cool guy!

Naw, I'm done here, don't bother with people who don't let you reply to their postings. Thought America stood for freedom of speech?

Merlin leader, 70 plus bandits over Imphal, Angels 22, intercept at Buster speed, tally-ho!

Zeke,
You make me laugh. Why can't you and skychimp accept that you are both airplane/history dorks? We all are. Stop this fratricide. This is what I imagine fights at a trekker convention must look like.

Zeke, you should be ashamed of yourself for flying off the handle like this in response to an APOLOGY. Go back home to your babysitter and don't come out of your room until supper.

Flying off the handle, er where was that bit? If you look back at my postings they remained polite all the way through, despite frequent prodding for me to revert to gutter talk.
Then along comes a chummy of old skychimp and deletes my nicest message to end the posting "accidentally", then guess what I can't answer the follow up posting? Gee what a big coincidence! No I will not lower myself to that level!

If you knew Bearcat at all, you would know he would not intentially do something like that. He's probably the nicest, most honest,(and fair) guy on these forums. I have nothing against you(Zeke), but you are out of line on this one.

Zeke...

Bearcat is a gentleman. If you had been here long enough you would know. He is definately one of these important peacemakers of this forum and there is nothing bad to say about him (don't know what his wife will tell you http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif - he's a mean FB addict)

Now if Bearcat apologizes for mistakingly deleting your post, accept it and never EVER be rude to a person who is sincerily apologizing, you won't get any friends for that... Now I suggest YOU apologize back and all is well.

An apology has been posted for the mistake... why not just leave it at that.

I've learned a great deal from the information you've posted on the campaign in Burma, a campaign which has apparently been neglected by the history books. I can't see, however, how flogging this thing is going to produce any positive result. In the 3 or so years that I've lurked and rarely posted I've always enjoyed Skychimp's contributions to the IL2 forums... a good community member. Bearcat has also been a responsible member of this community... I don't think he'd deliberately sidetrack an interesting if somewhat heated debate on a relevant topic.

Apologies if I sound a bit dense here zeke... but what point is it that you are trying to argue? Burma's important and the Pacific campaign is important... is anyone here arguing otherwise? Are you arguing for the inclusion of Burma in the sim or are you assigning a level of importance to it's place in the history of World War II?

That was very interesting forum as everyone should have it readproof and accrute checking to make sure who/what/where/when was there and died there. We (I) want to be sure to pay respect to people who fought for and which military force they serve for. Thank you for head-up. Next time if I plan to post or read history, I will have to make sure which exact military force are and where are at. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/11.gif

Zeke, SkyChimp doesnt need my help to back up his arguments, he is one of the most respected members here who ALWAYS comes with facts to back up any argument he makes.... or he doesnt make it. The only "laughable arrogance" here is yours. I'm just trying to pull your coat to a mistake I made... which I didn't have to do, but I did out of respect for your opinions and my sincere regret that I altered your thread. Since you are such a scholar then you can always repost all your ravings back in the same thread as an edit. Im sure you have all those scrumptious facts crammed into that snotty little errudite noggin of yours ready to be shoved in the face of the first person who will give a read...... I don't know you at all.. but you act like an arrogant snob for someone who's not a "bragger" and you typify every negative British stereotype I have ever heard of. THANK GOD the rest of the British members of this forum aren't as booring as you are.
