German and Japanese Radio "Chatter" mods done. Russian version should be done by the end of the week. I'm just waiting for Runner to get back to me as he said he would host them.

What they do is "play" in the background using FB's "InFlight" music option. The purpose behind them is to add yet another degree of realism/immersion to an already great sim.

The files use the voices found in Forgotten Battles, EAW and Rowans Battle of Britian, and provide a total of 25 to 30 minutes of "back ground" radio chatter. They were made this long because I didn't want the chatter ending in the midst of a long mission. As a matter of fact, on my set-up I've copied and renamed the files, which come numbered 0-9, to 10-18 which should give me nearly an hour of non-stop background SFX.

The voices and other SFX, including static, mic clicks, morse code and other goodies have that distant fade in and fade out real radio sound effect.

In the creation of the chatter pack mod I have tried to use the phrases in proper order so that they follow ("start to finish") missions of their own and what the conversations between the participants might sound like during those flights.

Installation and use.

1) Copy or extract the .wav's into your "C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\samples\Music\InFlight" folder.

2) Start FB. From the main menu go to "Hardware Setup" The "Sound Setup".

3) On the "General tab," flip the "Music" switch to the up position.

4) Press the "Music" button and flip the "InFlight Tracks" switch to the up position.

5) Press the "General" button and set the music knob to about 1/4.

6) Start FB and fly a mission and enjoy!

Hopefully I'll hear from runner soon so the files will be available for download.

Sounds good triple_AA. Hope a Russian accented English pack will be done one day too.

Look forward to it.

Sounds neat. Any chance I can use them in the original IL2? They may add some new fun to the Russian bomber campaign.

Really , really look forward to German RT chatter , but I do have one ( probably) stupid question will this chatter be on all the time when placed in In-Flight Radio or can it be installed to only play while flying German Missions? I noticed that with downloading the BoB campaign that now I have brit RT chatter in all of the various nation's planes I fly all the time....

Sure, you'll need to just turn off in-flight music to stop the sounds, since only one in-flight music sample can be played, as far as I know. For other languages, you'll likely have to copy new chatter files into the folder.

BEFORE you start the FB program, you should go to your samples/music/InFlight Folder. Put(or leave) in that folder the *.wav files you want to be able to play on the missions you intend to fly during your upcoming session/missions/campaign.... Whatever *.wav files are in that folder WILL be 'played' by FB in Ascii character/alphabetical order....

So, if you are flying as a German and want German background 'chatter', ensure that ONLY the German Chatter file(s) are in the InFlight Folder. If you are flying in the pacific, in a zero, ensure that the only file in the InFlight Folder is the (soon-to-be-released) Japanese chatter Wav file...

Or, for example, you want the "American Radio entertainment" selections to play, ensurethat the folder contains Only those WW2Radio*.wav files which I made and hosted for downloading.

Remember, FB will play Any/ALL *.wav files in the samples/music/InFlight Folder in Alphabetical/Ascii order...and you canNOT swap the *.wav files in and out After you have initiated a FB session...the files are Locked in place after you Start FB.

The various Japanese/German/Russian background radio Chatter files will be available soon for downloading from my Site...the Direct URL Link to the Zipped files will be provided via these forums within the next day or two...

I tried the German one, it's a nice addition. You have to be careful to control the volume relative to the actual radio transmissions of your wingmen, because it can become rather confusing when the action really starts!

I just transferred bases on my fifth mission in a German campaign, and one of my Ju-52s got shot down because I didn't realize they were actually being attacked in time! That and my wingmen are apparently helpless. The other 52s made it, but FOUR of my wingmen died while in the landing pattern. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

What we need is some sort of little App which will do all the copying/ swapping of files for you. Just load the App and select which nationality you'll be flying for and it'll copy the files across for you...

Any bedroom 'coders' out there able to do this?

OR please see this thread and bump it!
