Twas a bright sunny day over Smolensk when I magically appeared in a LaGG-3 (Quick Mission http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif) with 12 He-111 H-2's at about two miles range.

We merge, I throw my aircraft into a skidding right turn, and start closing behind the bombers, climbing as I do so.

I make a few Dive and Zoom passes against a bomber at the rear of the formation, and I quickly drop behind and below him to start finishing him off. I shoot the belly gunner with the Machine Guns, and then Start working on his starboard engine, which with my superior, superhuman marksmanship (Ahem http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)starts Billowing black smoke, so I nudge the stick to move in behind his Port Engine, and then WHAM! I get hit right in the prop by some git diving out of the aeroplane (Bad form aye?) anyway, he knackered my Prop, and bust my tailplane, I got a small constellation by knowing that I probably won the fight, but it's the principle of the thing!!!!!

I just thought it deserved a mention

Since this does happen sometimes (happened to me before as well), I have to wonder how often, or even if it happened in real life. Anyone have any stories to pass on from RL?

Good post.

I read about a Mustang pilot shooting down a a German fighter and when the German pilot bailed out he flew back into the Mustang's prop. The Mustang pilot then had to bail out due to damage to his aircraft.

I seem to recall reading about a German pilot (maybe Hartman??) who shot a Russian plane down and then was hit by the canopy of the russian plane. It caused enough damage to require a forced landing by the German.

In the book about the Finnish Ace

he tells of an attack by a pilot in a Foker XXI, with them wing guns that stick out

the pilot was attacking a Russian bomber and one of the crew bailed out, and impaled himself on the wing guns, pilot was able to watch his face as he died (didn't take long)

then the pilot had to shake the plane from side to side, very roughly (weight and drag was making the plane almost unflyable) until the guns toar the man's body apart and he broke off

I forget the complete ending, but the pilot after he landed, either couldn't fly combat any more, or it took him a long time, until he was able to fly again, the shock had been so bad

in Freeman's book on the 8th airforce (he has a few) a pilot in a P-51 had to bail out over friendly area, and as he floated down though the clouds, floated into a Formation of B-26s and killed

Ya can't blame that finnish dude though aye. that sorta stuff would mess ya up.

Reading it again, My story was purely a story of amazement at the detail of the sim, not aimed at being Humourous.

But yeah, Nowhere is safe in the wide blue Yondar.

Which one was it? The small dipper? One of the 13 constellations of the zodiac? Or one of the other more obscure ones? I "get" (in a manner of speaking) Orion myself but that's a big constellation.
