I finally got around to trying out the DLC and 30 minutes in, I give up. Gameplay is awful, the graphics are ugly af, terrible lighting, enemies are back to detecting me at first glance and there's no skill to buy that'll make them stop.

Stuff that works in the main game is broken here for some reason. I tried kidnapping someone earlier and used Eagle Vision to see where the guards are. Watched one of them walk away from an exit and there were no other enemies that showed up red. Walked through the exit with the hostage and suddenly I'm being detected by a ****ing NPC (as in, a normal citizen) who then alerts all the guards.
Next mission I was supposed to escort a carriage without being detected. Couldn't even get close to it because every time I tried, a Blighter would start detecting me. Literally couldn't even get the mission to start before getting detected. I was surrounded by policemen, so I thought fine, let the Blighter start a fight with me and the cops will get rid of him. When the Blighter attacked me, I didn't fight back, so the police wouldn't think of me as an instigator. As I suspected, the cops jumped on him and apprehended him for attacking me. Once he was dead, they started beating on me, the victim. It was at this point that I threw my hands up and flipped the game off.

Oh, and I don't know if the PC version is just that poorly ported, but the game crashes on me literally at the end of every mission. One time it almost crashed when opening a chest. Screw this. I'm going to play something that actually had some effort put into it.

Have you tried using the carriages yet, wait till they freeze on you every other minute. FPS is horrible when driving the carriages (I'm on PS4). I got excited when I first started it. The overall feeling gave me a chill. The mission where Evie travels to a harbor. Upto that mission it was going great for me. But then the climax fell flat throughout the entire game in terms of story, character, performance and gameplay.

Oh, I had the carriages freezing too, but that happens to me in the main game as well since a few patches ago, so that wasn't surprising.

I want to know what happens in the story, but I'll probably just watch it on YouTube like I did with ToKW (the only other DLC I never finished). A shame as I was really looking forward to it.

Ubisoft is terrible at porting to PC.

I don't have the DLC but I was hyped about it and I watched the entire walkthrough on YouTube. The opening was great since it creates great suspense, but Jack's identity and the ending were disappointing. Even the fight against Copper Head in Arkham Origin is better in my opinion. I think the developing team failed to really make good use of "fear", which is the biggest selling point of Jack. Jack indeed instilled fear into the public but he shouldn't butcher people or running around in the street in his distinctive outfit openly - it should be the hopelessness the targets felt and the constant stalking that generate fear.

Exactly my thoughts. I felt a suspense in the beginning a great one that I felt in the beginning section of AC 1 And that is saying something, but then the narrative fell flat as the game went on. His identity, fighting, atmosphere.

Strange, I 100% synched the DLC without any particular issues, if not the carriage freeze problem almost everyone is having.

I suggest you give it another try, the boss missions taking place entirely in separate areas of the map are very nice.

Same. Never had any problems completing missions, and the only bug I'm having the same one everyone's reporting, the freezing carriages. I think it did crash once though.

It wasn't great, the fear system needs serious development. It also feels far too OP. I can just run in without any thought, but as long as I drop a few bombs and spam X/square to brutalize someone, I'm OK. Hence I hardly used it, except when it was needed for the optional objectives. Once that was taken out it just felt like some more content for Syndicate, nothing spectacular, with a little dark story that opened great but went weird soon after.

I think the fear system has potential, and I would've liked a game with the Frye's in India, just to see some more of it. Maybe an upgrade to the rope launcher, that allows us to hang our enemies (hence making it a rope dart) and frighten those who see the body?

I'm pleased though, that we got 1 more blackbox missions and another main assassination, probably the only thing that may bring me back to the DLC. Freeroam is boring since there are no replayable side activities like the fight clubs or boat raids in Syndicate.

I thought the fear system was dreadful and pointless. Like ImaginaryRuins said, the fear Jack generates shouldn't be bombs and killing people in broad daylight, it should be about his sick, stalkery obsession. And it was even stupider that Evie was able to use the same weapons! What, is she a serial killer now too? It feels like they just put those things in for the sake of having something new, but it wasn't at all well-thought out, fun or necessary to the gameplay.
