It's my understanding that this LB view thing is some cheat that allows the pilot to turn completely around in their seat.

I won't make any specific coment to the "fairness" of having the ability to do this, but I will say that Linda Blair is Wonder Woman, and the Real Linda Blair view is the "no Cockpit" view.

So this thing is actually named completely wrong

In some WWII A/C there is a lever on the left side of the seat that loosens your shoulder straps if more shoulder/head movement is desired. It can then be returned to its original position (or tightness) when needed. I flew in a NA T-6 so equipped. This is no trick. It is for real. The lever was attached to the inertia reel in some manner and I could look back squarely at the tail./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Here it speaks of one in a modern day A/C.

Thanks, makes a heck of a lot more since now lol

BTW - I wouldn't use it....seems kind of weak, but I don't fly without the cockpit either.

Now really, what is so cheatin about this view? If it would let me look what is BEHIND the seat, armor plate or whatever view obstruction there is, then it would be a cheat.

But, what is so hard to make the FOV as wide as possible and look behind you? It let's you see the rudder also. It has been a great help for me in online servers so far.

This LB view is just a storm in a glass of water.

Actually, the whole track-ir thingie ain't such a cheat at all. Of course you can adjust its sensitivity but, when you want to look elsewhere out of your cockpit, you still have to move your head but yet, your monitor stays in place so, you'll have to look out of the corner of your eyes to see anything at all!

Anybody who doesn't think using the LB view has an advantage is only kidding themselves.

No argument here Buzz, as the real thing was intended as an advantage. Its a shame EVERYONE does not share IMHO this realistic advantage./i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Besides that, TrackIR, looks funny if you twist your head all the times and would make your GF laugh at you. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

ANd what-if it broke down? TrackIR doesn't work anymore, what to do? They are just wormfeed! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
