My god, flew it before patch download and it could fly rings around anything. Wow! After patch; can't climb with a p-47 and loses energy waaaay too fast. If it wasn't for a head on pass and kill with the 30mms I would have been toast

The real Me262 had bad acceleration due to the low thrust of it's engines.

Don't enter combat or climb until you're at combat speed +500kph. Dont drop below that speed in combat unless you've got room to dive away and your oponents aren't P47s or 190s.

It has the highest top speed but takes longer to get there than your enemies. Understand this and you're on your way to mastering this plane.

I LOVE THAT PLANE
I dont know how its supposed to fly,
but all i ask for is that they make an accurate representation of its flight model.

right now theres a bit of a discrepancy in its FM, i hope they fix it well. theres a few threads about this allready

I love diving on newbie 262's and ripping them apart in a high speed pass with my 4 20mm's in my 190. However in the hands of a skilled pilot i fear that thing, its a quite awsome plane if used right.

If you are TRYING for head on kills, you might as well put this sim back in the box and go play XBox.

If a head on snap shot comes up, by all means take it, but to try for head on is suicide. It is a very high risk shot. It is especially risky against 50 cals due to their longer range and grouping. They can effectively put up a huge sheet of lead in front of you while you are shooting through a blindingly exaggerated muzzle blast with a few cannon shells. It is a losing proposition.

The skill of the 262 is to wait for your shot. You have speed on your side, which you can use or trade for altitude, both which can give you better position and a high percentage shot, let alone an escape route if things get sticky.

Reality.

Along with the Hurri, K4 and other absurd pre-patch planes.

262 was most effective against bombers and bouncing unsuspecting allied fighters.

It was not meant for dogfighting which, judging from your post's tone, is what you're no doubt attempting.

Infact that's why the "Papageien-Staffel" was invented. Before the Me262 was at its altitude and speed, they were merely sitting ducks.

But I still can't believe how many people complain about their uber-planes being set to their real performance, now. I flew the Me262 sometimes before the patch and after the patch, and it's a lot more fun now, and it feels a whole lot more real after that patch.

Hedus is absolutely right. Head-ons are extremely foolish. For crying out loud, you're purposefully putting yourself in front of your enemy's guns.

I never ceased to be amazed by how many online Yak drivers (or the like) will attempt to take down my IL2 with a head-on. With the smallest amount of imagination they could easily maneuver for a rear quarter shot. Instead, they put themselves right in front of the deadliest plane in the sim. Brilliant.

It got screwed like the E and F series.
Havent tried G yet, but I suspect that also got screwed.

In fact, WE got screwed with this $hit they call patch.

Re-install 1.0 if it's that bad buddy.

Dont say WE either, I think you're in the vast minority.

Ay, the whole year?!

You have to do somethin' 'bout that Ven, and quick! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

BTW, pls read this post and my reply (you will anyway, I just want to speed the process up):

I would really like to see what you have to say about my words. they ARE a bit harsh, since I was (and am still) very upset (better to say ANGRY) with the patch.

I love killing noobies in 262's. I laugh when they try to turn fight. I blew one guy down 3 times in a row in a Hurricane!!!! He was so P/O'd! He asked me how I do it, and I told him "Try using flaps. it helps you turn tighter". Got another 3 kills off him in a P-39 after I landed the Hurricane. Lol.

Personally, I think it's more realistic in acceleration
but the energy bleed is way too great in a zoom climb. It was more real feeling before. I mean a plane that's fairly heavy that gets up to a blazing top speed, and then to make matters even better is one of the slickest planes of it's time aerodynamically should really get tons of stored up energy. This energy was better modelled before, IMHO. You guys that are joyous about it's FM now are mostly VVS whiners that were aghast that the LW finally had something Uber in FB!!! Of course you're happy about a castrated LW plane that is now more vulnerable. Sure it had poor power
to weight ratio but once it got to speed, as slippery as it is with those swept back wings and smooth pointed form, the energy should be phenonenal, more like it was before. Now it bleeds down to pathetic levels really quickly, which is what you detracters are loving. You guys would love to see it's top speed go down to 400Kph, I'm sure. Don't get into this junk about me never having flown one so I don't know, because you haven't either!! So you don't know this castrated version is more correct either. You guys are guessing and so am I. But my guess may be more educated??
Maybe, maybe not. Hard to prove.....

Bravo Mortoma. Exactly my point. It was very aerodynamic and it should not lose that much energy in a zoom climb.
