Hey, My parents are going to be getting a new computer.

Unfortunantly, it is going to be one of those "hybrid" space saving type of deals that is niether a desktop nor a laptop. The one they are looking at now http://www.winbook.com/fusion_pc/specs.html might not have a great graphics card (I've never heard of it anyway). So I want to know whether this computer has an upgrade slot available so I could replace that graphics card at a later date (so I can run FB and then Half-life 2 really well).

Does the machine they are looking at have a graphics accelerator card upgrade slot? I can't tell because I don't know what such a slot is called (AGP? PCMCIA? I have no clue). Could I get an ATI 9800 pro for this machine? If not, do any of you know of any other space saver "hybrid" machines that COULD support an expansion slot for a 9800 (in the pricerange of 1500-2000)??

This is really important for me. I'm on a decent laptop that can run FB OK (not on perfect or anything), but I cannot upgrade my own vid card and I would like to play futureDX 9 compatable games. If my parents don't get a comp with an exp slot, I'll have to buy a whole new computer. Hence I need all of your help and advice! Thanks in advance!

I don't see a video upgrade slot on that PC, from what I saw only the system memory can be upgraded. A system like that is faster than mine in every way except the graphics card, though even with my Ti4200 or FX5600, Dx9 is out of the question.

No, you can't put a conventional graphics card in that thing. You need an AGP slot and some space inside the box--which it has neither of.

What it does have is a 32mb integrated (hard-wired to the board) graphics chip. Not exactly meant for gaming. You'd be hard pressed to get that thing to run any of the newer games with any sort of detail or speed.

Notice they do not mention games anywhere on the webpage. You need something else for that. It is, however a great semi-mobile word processor/internet/multi-media box.

Ask your parents if saving 1 cubic feet of space is worth all the limitations.

Ok, thanks. So much for that one.

So, does anyone know of a similar computer (a compact space saver) that DOES have an AGP slot and/with a non integrated graphics card? Again, help is much apreceated. Thanks.

Sorry, that motherboard has no expansion slots that will accept a video card.

You want a pc with a mother board that has an AGP slot. there are some PCI v cards still available, but they are not as comoun, or as powerfull as AGP cards. There are no PCMCIA v cards at all.

Here is one of many small gaming capeable pc's available:

good luck.
