I've released a skin pack with 7 different skins. But, for the skins where this is valid, both the A and B patterns are included. Of each skin a version fir the MkIXc and MkIXe are included.
The skins are made with the same template as my Tuck, Johnson, Beurlings and other spitfire skins were made.

I've downloaded many skins from IL-2skins.com and found very funny that infact very few skins have good painted down side of A/C (light pallete on most planes). Some of skins are quite pieces of artwork, but only few of THOSE A/C's are good painted on their down side. Is it very hard to do or the skinners simply pay greater attention to upper parts of A/C's and camouflages... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/crazy.gif

However these spit pics looks quite nice, indeed... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Good question Curly.

The following pics goes to show what a skinner of a spit has to compensate for. I put a perfectly straight geometric checker pattern on the side of the fuselage.

When projected onto the model see how much the straight checker pattern gets distorted. You have to distort the markings beforehand so they project straightened out. I'm very gratefull that we have a spit to fly.

And good work Serval, thanks!

Cheers.

Yeah, only a few skins are comfortable to do. Most have strange mappings.

1) I-16 wing tips are 'exchanged' between wings. Same with rear BI-1 elevators. Only noticeable with camo schemes.

2) Stuka's nose is a pain. Not only folds strangely -making very hard to put camo, not mention words there- but you must put the line where the upper scheme ends very accurately, or undersurfaces will 'suction' upper colour making very ugly effects. And only a leg is in the void. Forget about letters and numbers.

3) Zero and Mustang's rudders are 'sparated' from tail, you must compensate the 'chasm'.

4) Yaks, P-40s and Spits have distorsion in their rear fuselage. You must distort to get it straight.

5) He 111 has only one side of rudder. Svastika's look inverted in the other side, which is a mere mirror of the one in skin. Same with B-17s engines -and Stuka legs.

6) A 'chasm' to be sorted in P-47 nose.

7) Undersurfaces in 109 wings are mirror-inverted. You must take this into account, and do them 'mirrored'.
