Just wondering about the dihedral on the P-40 3D model.
It seems a tad extreme.
Unfortunately I haven't got any really good reference materials that state precisely what the angle should be, or that have a clear and detailed image of this aircraft from front on.
A possible 3D issue to be examined?

Opinions, comments?

Otherwise, very happy with the patch understanding that it is after all a WIP.

Cheers!

It looks like it could be accurate. I've always noticed the P-40 has lots of dihedral in photos.

Also, I know first hand that Oleg is very particular about accuracy of the meshs proportions.

Hi Grach;

Seems pretty close to what I see in my copy of 100k and in RL there is beautifully restored and flyable P-40f near my house in the Chicago area. The machine's dihedral is quite pronounced, the short wing span seems to accentuate it from my view.

Thanks guys, I figured it was unlikely to be incorrect. It just looks so odd... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
The only photos I've got don't show it well enough to make a call. The 3-views that do suggest it may be a little overdone are unlikely to be as accurate as the BP's Radek and later Oleg must have used in the creation and verification of the model.

Cheers!

This has been brought up before. At that time, I believe it was Oleg that stated there is too much dihedral, but it could not be easily fixed as it involved redoing a good portion of the 3D model.

Hmmm. I assumed that the line in the read me to the effect that 3D errors had been fixed may have referred to this among others...

Hopefully they can tackle it at some stage. Otherwise it'll look a little odd parked next to those Hawk-75's... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Has anyone spotted what 3D stuff /was/ changed? I think the P-39 has gained a retractable landing-lamp that works (at least I never noticed it before) and the He-111H-6 has a new underfuselage bomb-carriage setup. Anything else?

Cheers!
