Does anyone have any info on this loadout? How many rounds does the traymounted BK37 hold? What type of rounds are these, do they use the tungsten rounds like the Stuka?? Or are they standard HE rounds and only useful for taking out bombers.

I'm kind of glad they did the G-2 first...it has so many options in terms of armament and its pretty versatile.

The book I have says 66 rounds in 11 frames(Mankau & Petrick). Supposedly this gun wasn't much loved by its crews. I guess it must have jammed a lot.

does the book say what type of ammo it used? Was it the same as the Stuka G1s?

I'm still reading the book, but so far it doesn't say anything about the ammo type. Although it does talk about this setup being planned for use both against tanks and bombers.

"By April 1943, however, it became obvious that the Bf110 was ill-suited for the role(anti-tank with the G2R1) and, in August 1943, was used by Eprobungskommando 25 for daylight attacks against bombers..."(Mankau & Petrick)
