Hey streak, all your soap getting washed away by all the rain? And what's up with the riots in Benton Harbor, huh?

Good to see you.

Lots of other game forums have very similar threads. I wonder if UBI would be wise enough to provide links to those threads in a marketing way?

I wonder if they are not allowed to for some legal reason.
Most other game forums have threads that are positive about it. And from people playing extremly dissimiliar games.

Might be a "piggy back" marketing tecnique worth looking into. I don't play but perhaps we could start a BF1942 screen shot thread here and return the favor?

Oh, wait, that would be OT. Sorry

Some of the comments in that thread really crack me up. The bloke who asked if there would be a desert storm mod is the best one so far.

And BTW, Fw 190s with red stars on them? Heresy! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

That is freakin funny stuff.

My favorites are the screenshots taken from the official site, or from tracks shipped with the game. The comments are always things like "o\/\/n3D!!!"

SmokeJaguar should go on one if his posting sprees (with stories) over there. He'd single-handedly increase UBI's worth over-night.

bf42 is a fun game but EA is such a scumbag company

www.motorcityonline.com (http://www.motorcityonline.com)

after 1 yr and 1/2 taking over $200 from mco customers they decide to close the game after only a year and a half.

also EA games have more online cheats then any company out.

look at bf1942 n r2r patch 1.4 just came out a few days ago and theres cheats already for the new patch same with mohaa and spearhead its rare to find a online game without cheats thats a dedicated server

All the cheats are why I left Ghost Recon and BF42 - I hope Oleg always keeps this mod-free. And I know this might sound wrong, but I kind of hope that not all the same people that play 42 will start coming over here and take over IL2 with their claims of "OwNinG" me.

I came from 42 and it took me a long time to finally figure out what S! meant. Once I realized it was all about respect for the other player I was a convert.

The really great thing about this sim is that most of the people that play are real hardcore simmers who like realism over arcade.

Oh well, my 2 cents...

yea, but it's about money if we want to see more of the same. I don't mean the cheating, but we "simmers" are but a tiny group and have to kiss some *** if we want or hobby to be supported

It's a fun game, but I can hardly stand to play 1942. It makes it just a little easier now that they have added a Russian machine gun instead of Russians using BARs. Also you need to shoot someone about 6 times to make them die. The Bf-109 on that game carries 15 bombs.
As far as WWII online fps, Day of Defeat is much better, IMO, and it's free if you have half life.

I have just recently picked up BF1942 and the Italy add on and I have one question for anyone who plays this game-Does anyone but me just play this game offline? I know that I am missing all the bonuses of working with actual humans as far as teamwork is concerned, but as stated above, the online aspect has alot of problems. First off, I only have a laptop and once I installed this game, I have been crashing the darn thing on a regular basis. I think FB and BF1942 are too much for my system. Also I figgured with the limitations with FB online as far as how many a/c it can deal with before the lag gets too annoying, it is just not worth trying to get online with 300-600 single figures for my laptop to keep track of in real time. Does anyone have any kind of input for me on this?

I like reading threads on other games forums regarding IL2/FB, its great that more people are getting to hear about the game, flight sims are such a small niche compared with fps type games.

It's true games like Bf42 have quite a high tard factor but most of the smacktards wont have the patience to stick with IL2 and get over the learning curve.

I play BF1942 alot and it is a great game. Incredible graphics, addicting gameplay, lots of variety in environments, theaters, lots of speech in many different languages, etc. It never claimed to be high on realism so there really is no justification in attacking it that way. The game is meant for action, not for realism. Still I find this game very immersive.

On the downside it has has a history of alot of bugs and the community can be immature. Then again, the FB community can be immature as well. Both games enjoyment depends on which server you get on to.

When I want immersive action on land, air, and sea with US, British, Russian, Japanese, German, Italian, and French troops I'll play BF1942.

When I want a detailed simulation where I get the most satisfaction from historical combat and realism, then I'll play FB.

Despite what others say BF1942 is a high quality game that is/was ground-breaking to say the least. EA while making the game initially buggy, has addressed most of these and has added some great new content in patches. They have released a nice expansion and are already working on another so the game has longevity as well.

Just thought I would stick up for one of my favorite games, it really is a great product if you don't take it too seriously.
