I hope this will be fixed in next patch

I was flying I-153P and I was attacking airfield. My engine shutted down, and I-153 can´t start it again in mid-air. I managed land on enemy airfield. Then when my plane was stopped, I just started the engine again and continued my flight... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

not starting in mid air is not a bug, it is intended

I don't think it is intended that the ground crewmen of the opposing side start your engine so that it is possible to safely fly back home. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Never said it was, I only pointed out the inflight inabllty to restart was intended, thus not a bug.

If memory serves, it was intended to prevent players from toggling the engine very fast and getting an instant 'cool down' when the engine overheated.

Wouldn't it just be easier to fix the bug that makes the engine cool off instantly when it's shut down?

Would sure make a lot more sense than using a 'fix' that doesn't address the root of the problem, AND makes it impossible to restart the I-16 and I-153 in mid-air...

It was actually intended to simulate the fact that the I-153 (and the I-16 and Bi-1) couldn't be started without the help of a ground crew and/or starter cart.

No no no.

1. Powered starter or not, almost all aircraft engines, including present day, can be restarted in midair. In fact, most will restart automatically, as long as the magnetos are on.

This is because the propellor is spinning, and thus the engine is turning over. You don't need an inertia starter if the inertia is already started.

2. This is fixed in the beta patch. When your prop RPM is high enough, you can restart the motor in the I-16 and I-153.

If you are travelling too slow, or are on the ground, you are not able to start it.

Insert sig here.
