I think the old water looks so much better, new cloud formations along with multiple altitude layers snow and improved rain fx are need.

I really dont understand what hes doing with this game and the planes that didnt see service

Sorry, but, what is the difference in the water? I have that water on with my ATI 9700 on Perfect Mode now. Maybe he added waves with foam? Im not sure if is a reflection or is foam.

I want that I~185...and He~112 too. You can't Whine about simming history even if its as Test Pilot...unless you do nothing but fly onwhine dogfight servers to score points. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Hopefully, for every 10 of these Buck Rogers jets, we may get 1 real live 1930s Biplane.

Uhm . . . The clouds and overcast do appear, imho, to be much improved. Also, notice that the water's waves has ripples within ripples, and that in some of the shots, are swirling in different directions, as if in response to the wind.

Also, this is just a small update that can't scratch the surface of the huge addon that is going to be available. Let's not whine until we have something in our hands to whine about. I am pretty darn excited about all these new goodies, myself. I like you Lead, but you must be the world's greatest pessimist. (sic?) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I can finally run perfect on my FX5900 and I think the updated water is a bit better, but it's still not good enough because it's not photo yet http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I`m sorry, but water`s good enough as it is. People are so taken in by eye candy which will just slow things down framerate wise. I`m impressed by the ejector seat on the German Jet. Did they really have that? Amazing. I hope more SUBSTANCE will be added, like AI improvements and interesting aircraft (not just eye candy). Still I expect good things.

The water definitely looks better/more realistic. I like the eye candy and I feel it does add to the overall experience and immersion.

I'd really like to see the trees improved on and some of the higher altitude clouds as that's where we spend most of our time in a flight sim though.

Maybe this means that those of us who currently CAN'T get the perrect water will be able to and those of us who can now can expect better FRs. So often we see some of these updates from our own perspective but there are a lot of guys out here who have yet to see this sim init's full glory who have decent rigs and SHOULD be able to. Maybe some of those screens were directed to them. I have a A7N8X board with a XP2500 OCd to a 2800, a 9500Pro and a Gig of DDR400 RAM and I get sucky FRs in perfect when I dont get crashes....that shouldnt be with this rig.

That ejection seat is NICE!!!

I ran in perfect mode for a long time because Excellent was crashing http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Fortunately the Cat 3.7's don't seem to have a problem with Perfect Mode on. I retain an average of 45-60fps. It does look like the water has more eyecandy but I doubt that it will have a performance hit...there doesn't look like much else is going on than before its just more refined. Gosh people get up in arms about things - goodness!

It would be really nice if they spent some time making more complicated cloud formations AND/OR some stuff like true overcast or darker clouds without the rain and mist.

I've got an Abit NF7-S 2.0, same CPU, a Gig of PC333 RAM, but a 9800 non-Pro card. Perfect runs smooth as silk on that rig http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. So a better graphics card should do the job. Those 2500+ Bartons are great for overclocking... had mine at 3000+ already but Prime95 wouldn't run then, although everything else ran fine. It's said they can run 3000+ - 3200+ with the standard AMD heatsink which comes with the "boxed" one. I've got a Thermalright SKL900U + 92mm fan on it though http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. Maybe it's stable at 3400+ and I just don't know it...

And that ejection seat is stunning.... Can't wait to test it http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif And yes, they had it. It was serial in those He-162s. There also were some 262 and 163 in which it was tested IIRC, but no serial production of them with ejection seats.

Wow I like the water, and that ejection seat is very cool. Now I just hope ATI and 1c can figure out the perfect issue with the newer CAT's. I would like to see perfect mode, but don't want to sacrifice my quality on excellent that I am getting with the 3.10's versus the 3.7's.

The sea looks alot better than the current Perfect mode IMO. Smoother ripples and better looking foam, excellent.

Willey, how did the He-162 seat work? Was it powered by a rocket motor? If so, I might just have to revive a past favorite from the Lock On forums, "where's the flame/puff of smoke" whining!

Point 1 and 2 on the He-162 eject checklist:

1. Throttle to IDLE or CUTOFF, I said Throttle to IDLE OR CUTOFF DAMMIT!

2. Can you hear me?! Throttle to IDLE OR CUTOFF!!

Well since I dont fly in water I could care less about it,

as long as it looks close to water Im happy...

What needs to be fixed is the damed online latencey, I was in a server other night it would have been great, he had gunships lobing artilary @ the base, he had lots of nice flack trucks on the bases, he had it all & it was all shooting so I though it will be fun to bomb the enemy base! Ya right when I got there my frames hit the wall maybe 8fps or something, no its not my system, its the fact that if you make a map with any kind of coolness wich would include gunships subs aa trucks aa gunz & all that then the lag becomes unbearable, Why work on more purdy water ??? Why not work on making ground units & Air units into a seemless & lag free inviroment so that Playing this sim is no longer a lag fest online, Fix that first then play with the water.

Ya Know, Its no wonder Oleg never posts here anymore. You guys are pitiful, rude and petty.

The release of the new game is well over a year away. I am sure they are working on Many, many things to improve gameplay. These are not things you will see in a screenshot anyway. I am sure they try to choose screenies that will have a nice wow or awe factor.

The water was probably an easy upgrade because of new shader technology and it was mostly in place anyway.

Oleg stated he was starting the code from scratch with this one. So I am sure these things will be addressed in time.

Still having fun with the best WWII sim on the planet after 2 years and a mere $80 combined software cost. There is nothing I will ever do or ever have had so much fun with for $80.

By the way, Thanks Oleg! The Dev pics look awesome.

Well the water and "new" weather effects have me scratching my head. I can't really tell a difference. I'm guessing once we see the water and such in motion the difference will be more noticeable. I was really impressed by the ejector seat on the Volksjaeger. Did the Go-229,Me-163,and P-80 have them as well? I can't remember. Anyway,I'm glad to see we're getting more than just new planes in the add-on.http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

From:

http://showcase.netins.net/web/herker/ejection/eject_paper.html

THE EARLY DAYS

The first operational use of a propulsive element to assist an aircrew to escape from an aircraft apparently occurred during World War II. It appears that the country to receive credit for the first operational system was Germany, as it is known that approximately 60 successful ejections were made from German aircraft during World War II. It is interesting to note, however, that the first aircraft ejection seat was designed and tested (successfully) with a dummy in 1910 by J. S. Zerbe in Los Angeles, California, apparently using bungee cords for propulsion. This was one year before the first parachutist successfully, jumped from an aircraft.

German tests of escape systems started as early as 1938. Initial designs used compressed air for propulsion, but this approach was abandoned due to high weight, low performance, and maintenance problems. Their next step was apparently to investigate propellant powered seats. A parachutist by the name of Busse made the first live ejection from a propellant powered seat. Propellant powered seats were operational in German aircraft by 1944.

As an example of the degree of development of escape system propulsion in Germany during World War II, the Dornier DO335 presented both a unique aircraft from an aerodynamic view, as well as from the escape system propulsion point of view. The aircraft having both a tractor and pusher airscrew, as well as dorsal and ventral centerline fins, presented a unique challenge to the aircrew who needed to escape in flight. To that end, this aircraft utilized explosive bolts and other propellant driven devices to jettison the dorsal tail and the pusher airscrew, as well as the ejector seat. It is not known if this system was ever used. Other German aircraft fitted with the propellant driven ejector seats included the ME-163B, ME-262, Heinkel HE-162, HE-219 (with the two seats), and HE-280.

Checklist = LOL!!!

i would'nt call those water effects just eye candy(as beautiful as they are) one shot has a ground swell with some wind chop developing(force 3-4)then there's one with white caps(force 5-7 depending on swell type)then there's a shot with streaking white caps(force 7-9 IIRC) so if they are in anyway connected to general metieralogical conditons you can make a good guess by just looking at the eye candy, oops, water.might help in windage judgemnt on a long journey over water,so no good on dogfight servers http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
