I just spent a while converting the first few missions from my 'Scramble mini campaign' for the Hurricane to the Spitfire....
flew the first mission, and after a head-on attack on the bomber force went to the help of some of our guys in the thick of it with some Me109's.
soon found myself alone with six 109's on my tail...... (those AI only help their own flight members)
managed to put two of them down, then hit the deck and ran with my tail between my legs...
managed to stay ahead of them as they chased me all the way back to my airfield.... then they turned back as soon as they got close to the AAA.... (before AEP they wouldn't have done that either!)
my engine was overheating, and I could see in my mirror the range to the nearest 109 on my six (I use only the range icon)... had to keep reducing throttle to get 'engine normal' then open full again to keep ahead of them
in the Hurricane I would have been mincemeat.....

You have confirmed what happened to me on the Eastern front with AEP, I ran from 2 109s hot on my tail. I reached my friendly airfield and circled waiting for the 109s to be shot out of the sky. To my surprise they turned and headed for home! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

You`re right they NEVER did that before AEP!

If you don't mind me asking...how did you change the available A/C to include a Spit? I'd be interested in trying that out myself. I have AEP but no Spit campaigns are available for download yet as far as I know.

Still can't wait for a Mark IX and a Mark XIV. As much fun as you can have with the Mark V in the early war you can have with those two models in mid and late war fights.

I imagine that he would have taken an existing campaign (i.e. Extreme One's BoB) and simply changed the player a/c in FMB. I think that Extreme One & Polymando are working on an early-war "Channel Front" campaign.

You can play a russian campaign with a Spitfire: Choose Kuban 1943, scroll down the fighter plane menu and choose Spitfire Mk.Vb, 1941. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Your opposition will be Gustav G-2, so manage your energy well and stay close enough to your mates.... otherwise you'll easily find 3-4 Messerschmitts on your tail. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/1072.gif

Yes, there`s anouther Spitfire Campaign in there as well. Just keep checking the planes available when first starting a Campaign.

Too right, along with the Mk. IX and the MkXIV.. absolutely superb aircraft. Mitchell sure knew what he was doing when he designed the Mk. 1

One downside to the Mk. 22 though is that with a reasonable pilot at the controls it'll pretty much own all the other props in the sim; and pilots who fly it online will end up facing the same amount of criticism as those who currently fly Ki 84's

as I said when starting this thread......'I just spent a while converting the first few missions from my 'Scramble mini campaign' for the Hurricane to the Spitfire....'

being the original author of the Single mission "scramble" and the subsequent mini campaign of the same name, it is not hard for me to change from the original Hurricane to the Spitfire, just time consuming.
both original ones are available for download from mudmovers and Sim-outhouse... although if you want the absolutly last hurri or the newer spit versions you will have to mail me...

all I did to convert was to open each mission file in turn with 'notepad' and cut and paste spitfire 5b over the Hurricane IIb wherever it occurs..... before all this I made a copy of the campaign folder and re-named it to Scramblespitfire then did my work on that and also changed the name in the campaign 'info properties' file
