Is it possible to click on controls, such as flap/gear levers?

I think that would be pretty good fun.

In falcon 4.0 the controls were only clickable in the 2d cockpit. I agree with rcorparon, go try fs2004 if you want clickable 3d cockpits.

Clickable controls are old and passe IMO. Better to have multiple programmable controllers with on screen switches and gauges that move when you hit certain keystrokes.... for instance.... notice the K-14 gunsight knob in the cockpit of the P-51D20.... When you toggle from normal,to K-14,to both the knob turns on the screen. I have that function programmed into my sticks so when I am in a closed pit and I switch on my K-14 I see the knmob move but the control for that knob is a physical set of buttons that I toggle. To have to move your mouse over to the switch or button to activate it is just not something that adds to the immersion for me. Try turning on your landing or cockpit lights in a P-40.. the switches move on screen. When you move the trim wheels they actually move on screen. What I would like to see is ecery function in the sim...either this one or BoB have fully functional switches and gauges for every command. CFS1 had buttons and switches that worked by mousing to them and actually moving them...but in flight that isnt very feasable. You would be surprised to find out just how many controls in FB actually move when you hit a switch or move a level. Notice the flaps, throttle, prop pitch & mix levers on some planes. It would be nice to see on all of them.

HOTAS. And really, IMHO IL-2 does not require a HOTAS, but if you have one, you are at an advantage.

I don't think I'd ever want to take my hands off my HOTAS. So far, I've not had to except for minor things - I program everything to stick and throttle.

TM Cougar ownz me I guess.

Could be fun,if we had a touchscreen.

HOTAS?

I remember the shuttle simulator on the atari st and amiga, banks and banks of switches and everything was clickable http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I use to just click randomly on stuff to see how quickly id die http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
