Sorry to post this here, but gaming boards always seem like the ultimate trouble shooting place, so here's the problem:

I like to have my desktop squeeky clean, so I have a folder on the desktop in which I keep all my shortcuts. Theres about 25 in there now. But everytime I open the folder, it takes 20 to 30 seconds for the Icons to be drawn and the comp freezes for a bit. Anyone know what causes this? I have winxp pro, P4 1.7, and 1 gig ram.

chances are good that it has something to do with one files in the folder. Are any of them movies or pictures? If so, try moving them to a separate folder to see if the thumbnail or preview view is interfering. If not, see if you can isolate it to one particular program. One program may be having problems with reading the icon, etc. A good defrag may also help the issue.

Good luck,

Isn't it redundant to have a folder on your desktop containing your icons? They are already in a folder to begin with. C:/documents and settings/<username>/desktop. Now you just have a subfolder within the desktop folder. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
