Does AEP have a patch to stop AI pilots on my side from poaching my kills? as it is frausting to shoot an enemys plane up and watch him head for the ground in flames only to have an AI pilot chase him, put a couple of rounds in to him and then be awarded the Kill. The same goes for when you destroy the enemys engine and the AI does the same thing. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Nope
and if anything it is worse in Aces now, since the bad guy hangs in the plane longer if it catches on fire

playing BOE, had a 190 vs 51's in the campaign, the 51's were on a ground strike and I got a great bounce, Crippled 5 51's in the first pass, caught another one pulling out of it's attack and blew him apart and then ran down one over the channel

I ended the mission with 3 kills, my mates picked off all the cripples

I think the bad part in the game for kills is it makes you waste ammo, a plane that is going to be shot down, can take a while, and if it does, the AI will go after it instead of a plane that is heathly

in my Romy Campaign, flying a Cane 38, got two kills my first mission, a SB bomber which took almost all my ammo, and a Rat, that I got a good side brust into but then ran out of ammo, 2nd mission I got 5, 4 SB's and another rat, 2 bombers went down in flames, the rest were damaged and crashed, the rat again, I was able to get a good angle shot on it, but was out of ammo after a few strikes

there were no other planes in the area, so the damage done, was able to drop the planes, if the AI had been around, they would of chased them into the ground

AI pilots are practicing to fly online.
They also vulch if you crash land and dont get out of the plane quick enough.

Unfortunately, welcome to the club. The AI's have been stealing kills ever since the early days of IL-2. Obviously nothing has really been done since then to correct this problem. I just wish they would install some feature in the communications mode between you and your wingmen where you could tell your AI wingmen to leave your target alone. Something to the affect of "Target is mine.", "My Target, do not Engage.", or "Back Off." would be nice to have. Anything.

At times, I've gotten so mad http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif at my AI's that I've shot a burst across they bow after they stole one of my kills. I know it was wrong, but I just couldn't help myself.

It's not wrong http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We are not at war, and you are not in the military and you are not firing at people

Shot the jerk down. Then strafe him on the ground as he runs away. It's wonderfully cathartic. You can always re-play the mission off-line

Just think it positive you're hero and they're clearing remainees and...

I don't care, it's just offline play that no one look at my kill number. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

So, are you 'frosted' or 'frustrated', or both?

Me, I get pissed, and then I get even.

Hit "Refly" three or four times, and just shoot the SOBs down (I especially enjoy shooting them in their chutes, although this requires a little patience, because you need to get some altitude for this to be practical) repeatedly.

It is, as it has been pointed out, quite cathartic and may be considered a "Healing Experience."

I also find that it makes the voices in my head go away for a little while.

cheers

Heh. Oh good. I'm not the only one who will not hesitate to drop a wingman for poaching. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif Anyone else notice how they sometimes can be suicidally reckless?

Flying as Free French, I'm diving after an unaware FW-109 when I hear that oh so familiar crunch, and loose elevator/rudder control. I manage to bail (pulling out of the dive was not an option), and thought "hmm. no fritz on my six, or I'd be all shot up. I wonder...." So I save the track and replay it. Sure enough, one of mine, that punk de Le Poype, ripped my tail clean off. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif As a matter of fact, he went so far as to unwisely turn his back on another FW-109, and attempt to take mine, only to drop both of us. He survived, was hospitalized, and returned in ten days. On the 11th day, he's back to poaching. Well, old habits die hard, and he got "accidentally" caught in my line of fire. Yes sir, when you're visibly pissed and plotting the death of a virtual character which is no more than 2 randomly generated names and a flight history, you have bought yourself an excellent game. What, we only have 6 combat ready planes? It's gonna be 3 if they don't knock it off!

<shrug> Doesnt bother me in the slightest. The AE going down is what is important.

Short of shooting down your buddies for "Bogarting" one's kill, I have found that if my flight chums are being to enamored with appraoching that enemy AC that I spent a good 10 minutes getting to smoke and spark, I call them all to "break!". Or, if there are not too many enemy craft still close, I'll call for a "return". I've seen that they will almost consistantly break off my kill then.

It would be nice if a plane that received a certain amount as damaged counted (within the programming) as destroyed. It would also be nice (and quite realistic) to have shared kills. And quite frankly, I think that any plane that manages to crash land should also count as a kill (I think they did in real life).

I'm definitely with Kampfmeister on this one. Commands like "Target is mine" and "Stop shooting at me, I'm friendly!" would be much appreciated.

I'd also love if there was some command that would tell the ground AAA to stop shooting at an ememy plane if he's flying away and I'm on his tail, or if I'm otherwise on top of him. My virtual heart goes into my throat when engaging the enemy over my own airfield. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I agree. I think the AI has improved with AEP, BUT they do take your kills too much. The reason why this is slightly worse I think is because of the more complex damage model. Enemy planes don`t just fall apart anymore, they smoke, bits fall off, but they still have the pilot and nothing critical like a wing`s broken off, so the AI sees it as a healthy opponent.

It`s not so bad if there are a LOT of enemies, but if there aren`t that`s when the kill stealing happens.

Good idea Bullet4N6. But can you give those orders if you're not the flight leader? Maybe you can and I've never noticed.

That`s interesting I`ve NEVER used the `Break` command. i must try it.
