Can anyone post their key maps?

As I dont really no where to start.

I want as many of the user defined keys in place so as I go along I can start using more thingies!

Thanks.

Where to start, okay...

Get rid of "I" for engine start/stop. Right now if you reach over to set mix 80% and your finger slips BAM you just turned off your engine.

I map my engine start to the double key press [ / * ] on the Number Keypad. That way to start or stop engine I must press both keys together using two (2) fingers. Never a slip~up. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

For multiple engines, I use...

PAGE DOWN = Unselect All Engines
PAGE UP = Select All Engines

INSERT = Select Engine 1
HOME = Select Engine 2
DELETE = Select Engine 3
END = Select Engine 4

So all my multiple engine controls are all together and arranged in easy to see way.

As for the default Zoom controls that are supposed to go there, I only use Wide View and Full Zoom in View and also a medium zoom view but all these are mapped to joystick buttons and I use Mouse to look around the sky.

If you use mouse to look around, before mission goto FB Input Menu and set Mouse Sensitivity [or Speed] to 5.0 or even 10.0 (highest they let you) then you can look all over the sky and barely move your hand.

Key-mapping boggles my mind http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It is one of the reasons I got myself a HOTAS. For me, the muscle memory of what button or rotary switch does what is much easier than memorizing key-strokes.

All I have on my keyboard is:
start engine
lock tailwheel
manually lower gear
radio commands
external view commands
aircraft lights
escape to menu of course
and-

I have been imprinted like a duckling to use the space bar to fire rockets. I think this dates back to Aces of the Pacific http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif I can't break the habit, it seems. I had mapped it to
auxiliary+fire1, but my hand keeps slapping the spacebar when I want to fire a rocket. I put it back to the spacebar...

I have everything mapped on my HOTAS. My only advice is to NOT map engine or eject to a hat switch. Put those 2 on a single button.

I need some help too. I cant figure out how to use my secondary bombs. I assumed I had to map a button to my tertiary weapon but it still doesn't do anything. How do I make both sets of bombs droppable?

I have all my commands mapped to keys which in turn are set up in profiles. For many of the commands in FB that are not assigned you have to assign them to something. I found that just using the stick software could get tricky. If you just take the time and give it some thought and assign keys and then do your profile off of those keys you will have a little more flexibility. If you go to the C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles\Users\default config file and copy your settings there to a disk so that if you ever crash you can replace your settings if you have to re-install FB.

As far as making both sets of bombs droppable... turn off unlimited ammo. First the primary bombs will drop..then the secondary bombs will drop. On my flight stick (MSFFB2)button 1 is MGs,2 is Rockets,3 is cannon and 4 is bombs. All the keys in my setup are assigned in the controls menu.

Grab a copy of keyboard studio from that site. Good keymapping software that is not stick-dependant.

I can't vouch for their usability without a programmable HOTAS, as most of those are programmed on my joystick and I don't actually have to use the keyboard much.

*ouch* forgot to mention, I have my mixture settings mapped to the numbers along the top of the keyboard, but the throttle settings mapped to the NumberPad number keys. That way I can just FEEL THE NEED FOR SPEED without looking at the keys.
