I just finished the last mission of this campaign...I HIGHLY recommend it!!!! Lots of fun, challenges, surprises, and very Immersive missions!!! Also several very engaging/immersive videos thruout... And the final credits were done Very creatively and deserve some sort of award in and of themselves.

To ExtremeOne and Poymando, the creators: Well Done, Chaps!!! And Many Thanks!!! S!

I agree with Wiley, it is well worth the download. I've only flown 3 or 4 missions of it but from what I have seen so far it looks as if it should be great. [Perfect for me to try out my new Saitek X45 stick on!! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif]

Thank you ExtremeOne and Poymando - I look forward to your next creations ~ S ~

"Fantastic Campaign"
Really enjoyed it & some tough challenges.

I've run out of ammo again and helplessly left watching the bombers going on to the target.
Heart in mouth I head for home.

You gonna do a campain for the Spit when we get her?

The mission in where you have to protect blenheims against Bf-110 is particular difficult since the 110 armament is so lethal and the rear-gunner wrecks up your engine pretty easily.

I did that mission four times or so before I could succesfully end it, with 2 Me-110 downed http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif The Hurricane can be quite effective too with those peashooters, You just need to make you hits in one particular spot, over and over again. Aim for the wings and/or engines. He-111's are quite easy to chew up.

Thanks a lot guys for all the kind words.

Yes Chivas, I didn't work alone. Frequently I've heard of this referred to as Extreme_Ones RAF campaign.
To be fair to Poymando, I couldn't have acheived this without him.

OberstwilleyII - congratulations on completing the campaign (I wonder what difficulty settings you used?) It was quite a challenge wasn't it? (I reckon you could be the first to finish it - I haven't heard anyone else claiming to have done so)
I'm really glad you liked the videos and ending credits, as I spent a lot of time making them add to the whole campaign (again you're the first to comment on this aspect specifically)

madsarmy YES! I'll definately make a Spit campaign! I can't wait!

I'm currently working on THREE little projects. One campaign focussing on the 1st Mustang equipped USAAF fighter squadron, a Polish campaign folder (with ranks, awards etc..etc..) and a Jap/USAAF dual campaign (the same missions flown from both perspectives - I'll include my Jap speech-pack too)

I'll keep you all posted.

I actually unzipped it and was ready to install but got confused by the various readme instructions. I'm not up to speed yet on the DCG and don't know how to install it yet either. That makes I think 4 readme files, and was a bit too much for my limited time, so I returned to the normal campaigns. I know if I had persevered I would have been rewarded. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-sad.gif Keep in mind that I am on a lot of different projects, so in this case I was more impatient than most people might be. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif So please take this as a positive criticism, but I really think the campaign would benefit from a single, well-organized and easy-to-follow documentation file.

Hopefully I'll take/find the time later to get started on what promises to be a great campaign. I play them full hard, who knows if I could finish it this year.... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Umm. I`m ashamed to say I haven`t actually played the Brit campaign yet. I`m on a looong Soviet Campaign and I cannot drop it until it`s complete! What I did do is transfer the English sound and background to the Russian campaign. So I know it`s good as far as sound is concerned. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Now when the Spitfire is released it`s going to be incredibly hard to stay on the Sov campaign!

Hi Mike.
Any feedback is appreciated especially when it's telling you something more 'useful' than "It's great" or "thanks a lot!" (although I'd be gutted if no-one said so)

As for DCG you don't actually NEED it to fly the campaign Poymando and I created. (It's merely been mentioned as you can now use it to fly Dynamic RAF campaigns if you want to - which is really fun BTW!)

Simply unzip the executable to your desktop or wherever you like and run it. This will extract all the files you NEED. (you might have to tell the installer where you've installed FB to as your path might differ from the default path)

Then start a new career, select United Kingdom for your nationality and select "The Battle Over Britain" and away you go. Remember to ENABLE inflight and takeoff music!
I hope you do give it another try...
I know you're busy though. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Ok, "useful" info I've just remembered - the installer got a bit cranky when I tried to change the directory to something other than the default (I put all my games in a \games directory).

I COULD change the path but *every* *single* letter I changed resulted in a Windows "DING!" and an error message saying the destination could not be found. Of course, when I managed to finally type in the whole of the proper path, it was fine and let me continue. Just so as you know http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Extreme_One - I want to play your campaign but I got put off by the need to install DCG and the complex instructions. Could you not package the campaign in a similar style to the FB Patches - a self executing Zip file that you simply have to unzip into your FB folder containing all the files you need that "just works" rather than having to configure stuff for those of us who don't want to use DCG?

Just had to jump in with some praise of my own... Started playing a few days ago and have gotten to the battle of britain bit. Must admit I enjoyed the "phony war" segment immensly, I really got the feeling of "we send one guy over and see whats happening, and then they send one or two guys in response" - excellent. Especially the second? mission where you have to climb to altitude alone and intercept a solitary he-111 - really good stuff. It just felt right!

The only bit of negative critisism I have is the "what the hell, stay with your leader" voice, as I feel this track isn't of the same quality as the rest of the excellent voicepack. Might just be me tough... I would suggest adding a 'silent' track there instead, because I dont like the way the FB AI keeps telling you to stay in formation even when your in a dogfight. That way you would get the message on your hud but woudnt have to hear it over and over....

Is there a way to disable this sound btw - in general I mean??

You can turn off the radio comms from the menu or in flight. Go to sound settings and reduce the radio setting partially or fully.

You can also get rid of those annoying subtitles. Use the subtitles to learn Russian, German etc. if you like, but you can turn them off in the conf.ini file in your root IL-2 folder, just look under the section [game] for the assignment of Subtitles... change it from 1 to 0. There are some other useful settings there too.

Abel29 - I too found the AI insistance on close formation dogfighting pretty annoying, so went back and started from scratch as a squadron leader. That way you tell THEM what to do, which given the sometimes suspect logic they display is a lot more fun. At least for me. And you're much better placed to respond if, say, you spot an enemy at distance that they haven't yet.

I appreciate the RAF used some inappropriate tactics in France, but they were never THAT bad. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I dunno if german would be the worst choice for britain... Understanding german is quite easier than understanding cockeny :=) (Speaking as a norwegian btw...)

Now, before I get flamed by all ye Londoners og dubious origins - It was a joke! A joke I tell you!!

Besides, if you want to go to war.. then the best language for it is german! Thats what made them superior for the first two years, not technical improvemntes, superior design but things like 'Stellungswechsel! Stellungswechsel!', 'Er brinnt - der Schweine' and 'Los los los Angreiffen' and a heartfelt 'ALAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARM TAUCHEN TAUCHEN TAUCHEN' just to get som submarine vibes in here :=)

I am officially rambling btw.... (amd my german spelling - fugetaboutit :=) )

Sorry for that guys.

The instructions are a little intimidating, but that's becasue you've listed every last detail about all the cool options. You've tried to be too nice! I can see how people might get put off by the DCG stuff - just ignore it, guys, and everything works A-OK. (At least it did for me!)

Regarding the annoying "what the hell? Stay with your leader! call - I know what you mean - it gets annoying in the original voices , and it does here too. If you just hear it once it would be fine, but over and over again it grates.

Luckily it is EASY to remedy this if you don't like it.

Go the samples\speech\GB\actor1 folder in your FB folder.

Find the following files:

what_the_hell.wav says "what the hell?".

stay_on_leader_s_course.wav where_are_you.wav and where_your_are.wav all say "stay with your leader!"

You can simply delete these files - this should silence your nagging flight leader.

Alternatively, copy some of the other wav files in the folder that you like better, and rename them using the names above.
If you'd like to hear some raf slang, copy stay_in_formation.wav (="pull your finger out") over the "stay with your leader" files listed above: - or use stay_on_course.wav for a less nagging message that still reminds you that you are off course.

Mike - thanks for the tip - I'll try that.. Maybe even replace the stay with your leader.wav with some heroic charge or bloodcurling scream, altough that would quickly wear out to http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It's an AWESOME campaign but extremely challenging. I've restarted it three times and have never gotten past the 11th mission!

What I really like is the Churchill speech set to the soundtract of Last of the Mohicans. Excellent touch. Well, back to barrage ballon busting and attacking training gliders http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Remember not to hit the Dakota http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Not sure if I got to mission 11 or not. The last one I played before I restarted at a higher rank, in order to lead my errant AI, was the one where you and some Moranes mix it with some Emils. Some overzealous Armee de l'air goon came up behind me as I was lining up on a Messerschmitt and shot my tail off. So much for allied rapport. *****!

I've just got back up to that one again on my restart so hopefully the result will be different this time around.

There's no doubt that these missions can get really difficult... but I love it! I've been shot down or crashed far more times than I'd care to mention but I'm scoring some good kills too... even in "pea souper" weather where I can't even see the ground never mind the planes. If only I was flying this in my LaGG I'd be taking the Hun to the cleaners! My Hurricane is always conking out on me at the critical moment http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

There are some fantastic touches in this campaign... dare I say it is better than any that actually shipped with the game. I start each new mission with anticipation.. wondering what new peril I'm going to face.

The bar has been raised it seems. More please extreme_dude.

Last night in a bit of a drunken haze I went through the RAF speech files and changed them a bit. Basically normalised them to the same volume as the US speech files and tweaked the EQ to make them sound more like real radio chatter. I think it has improved them.

Obviously this might be seen as taking a bit of a liberty by Extreme_One or Poymando so could they contact me on huxley@onemorewild.org so I can give them a link so they can have a listen and approve/deny this going out for general consumption.

Nice-one Huxley_S!

I've tried to do this myself but as I don't have a batch-convertor editing each file individually was taking a loooooooooong time.

It is a hard mission I agree! Poymando is a hard task-master isn't he?

I found that some of the more challenging missions are really best completed by really using your AI wingmen to assist you (as in RL)

There is an easy way to "bank" a mission completed on that mission so you can progress whatever the outcome of the furball. I shan't put it on here in case it spoils it for anyone else but I noticed it by accident the other day. PT me if interested.

Big thanks here for Extreme 1 and Poymando from myself as well !

That`s a really immersive campaign with excellent audio. I`ve put the "BoB" crash tune into my inflight music folder and I never had so much fun attacking that lonely He 111 with the tune playing on my headset !

I`m currenblty in the Dunkirk mission and it`s superb. I wonder if you used Leningrad as London....?http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I could only wish for maybe some more war-time atmosphere at the airfileds - with ambulances driving around, planes parked randomly etc...

Either disable "inflight" and "takeoff" music from the audio setup screen when flying for any Nationality other than United Kingdom or delete the files 0.wav from the "takeoff" folder and 0.wav, 1.wav and 2.wav from the "inflight" folder.

Hi Mike_Green,
HHeres a quick overview ust to give you a quick idea of how we worked together. Perhaps others could do it as well. The nice thing is that two heads can think better than one. Also, for me, mission building is a pretty slow process so with a team you can build twice as much.
Basically what we did was assign each other specific calendar days in small batches.(Perhaps two each) We used the Battle of Britain campaign diary webpage as a outline. Each day of the battle has weather, after action reports losses etc. that could be used to guide the mission building. After we finished each batch, we would send them to each other for playtesting and editing and then when each batch was finished, I added the completed missions to the final campaign folder. (I also dealt with communicating with our main skin creator, Capt_Farrel) Exteme_One did double duty making the splash screens, tracks, a few extra skins and communicated with the voice and medal pack builders.
I really enjoyed the whole process and I think for only communicating via email and being on seperate continents, it came out pretty well. It certainly can be done and I encourage others to give it a spin. Feel free to drop a PM if any mission builders have questions on how to make it happen. Simon...do you have any other input regarding the topic?
I certainly hope to do one with Extreme_One in the not too distant future. Perhaps when the add on comes out. For the next month or two I might put out a few single missions, but I need to put some extra time in to my off computer career....
Hope that answers your questions http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Extreme_One and Poymando, I just started the campaign. Thank you for an excellent piece of work here. The plane is nothing worth writing home about (I'm spoiled by those late war beauties) but the challenge of using it is probably the most fun of all, and the choice of armament gives the Hurri a charm all its own. I'm still thinking of the (3rd? 4th?) mission, where a nice big group of Hurris is ganging up on some poor deutsche floatplanes...and we really didn't kill any of them, although we forced a few to land. :^) (I actually thought I was clever by shooting both the floats off my floatplane before disabling his engine. He still floated. It's not fair.) The music is great and the radio chatter, while occasionally redundant, adds a great deal to the campaign overall. (I especially enjoy the bit where the tower is describing the target to the attacking flight, referencing it to a nearby river, all in that accent that us yanks get such a kick out of.) Very well done. I'm assuming you're going to give the Spit a similar treatment, and if this is indeed the case, I'm looking forward to it immensely.

P.S. If you're working on campaigns for other nationalities...well, good luck and godspeed. I'm looking forward to those too.

I was chuffed today to receive my second DFC in the campaign. I expected this to be listed in the awards as something like "Bar to the DFC" - but it was listed as "DFC second class". I'm assuming this is a trivial oversight? I changed it in the award.properties file, though it's such a little thing it was hardly necessary.

Yes I just got mine today... I was most pleased... but I damn well deserved it!

It would be cool to know what everyone's scores were when they finished the campaign... a little leaderboard like.

Obviously people could lie about it and say they got 150 kills, 100,000 points and only died twice on realistic settings. You could post a screenie to prove your rank, score and medals I suppose.

But it would be nice to get an idea of how people fared and on what skill level because clearly everyone who's played it really got into it.

Hi!

Not everyone is an ace. I have 7 kills to my list, and I am still trying to get through the "Protecting the balloon defence" mission in England. I had made it with only loosing planes up to that, but I have been killed twice trying to get through mission.

The problem is that I always get tempted to go for that 2nd 110'er. I guess it's the games way of telling me that hunting heavy fighters with the holes in my windscreen and a smoking radiator is a bad idea...

I'm recording my stats at the moment.

Will let you know when I've finished but currently I'm 10 kills for 2 airframe losses. And I'm on the Ju88/110 intercept (2nd UK mission?)

My pilot hasn't died yet either, I don't think. I'm really keen to try and get through without getting killed but I think the chances of that are pretty minimal. It'll be a shame when it happens, too.

Here ya go:
http://imagehost.vendio.com/preview/wi/wileycoyote2/BattleOverBritain.jpg

Mediocre, I suppose, by Flight Sim standards.....23 kills though I only got up to my second DFC...but I did get promoted at an ungodly rate all the way to Group Captain!!!! As I recall, I started the campaign as a Flight Lieutenant/Leftenant(Promotions come WAY too fast in almost all FB campaigns, in my opinion).

On the other hand, a quick bit of research revealed that the top-scoring RAF pilot in the BofB was named Eric Stanley Lock and he had at most 18.5 kills(maybe only 16.5 or17, depending on source...?)...These were Kills achieved DURING the Battle of Britain only; he had 20+ kills by November 1940 and 26 total by the time of his death ground-strafing at Calais in August 1941). He Crash/Force-landed three times between August and November 1940 (I did so six times as best I can recall...some More CRASH, than Land). Lock's last Crash-landing went as follows:
QUOTE:
He was badly wounded in the limbs by cannon shell splinters when shot up by an Me 109 on 17 November 1940. Although managing to crash-land his Spitfire near Martlesham Heath, he was too badly injured to leave the cockpit and nearly two hours elapsed before he was found by two soldiers who carried him the two miles to the station on an improvised stretcher of rifles and greatcoats. After a long period in hospital and convalescence he was posted to No 611 Squadron. UNQUOTE

He began as a "Pilot Officer on Probation" and was still a pilot Officer at the end of the BofB, despite his victories and the fact that he received two DFC's(just as I did http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif) and DSO(I think I deserved a DSO). However, he was not promoted to "Flying Officer" until June of 1941, apparently when he returned to duty after recovering from extensive injuries sustained in the crash landing of Nov 1940.

As I said when I started this thread, Battle over Britain is a GREAT campaign...Well worth the price of admission! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. Thanks again and Kudos to Extreme_One and Poymando!!!

I think 5 planes lost is pretty amazing myself. I've not quite finished yet but although I've got more kills than you I've lost 50 a/c yes 50! I'm single-handedly winning the LW's war for them.

Most of my deaths have come through taking on He111s or getting so banged up that I have to crash land or bail.

If this was for real I'd be mincemeat.

Let's have more scores on the doors chaps!

Don't you just love that AI and its crazy ways?
Tonight I was after a High Altitude Junkers 88. A good stalk, I'm in position. Look around for my wingman.

He's 4 KM to my right. I give him a shout.
"OK, regrouping". Does nothing.
OK, screw you, go and soften up the Junkers for me.

"Tally ho! Attacking Hun bombers!"
Maintains course, starts climbing. No signs of an attack.
ATTACK THE S.O.B.
Veers towards bomber - yay!
Flies straight past him and starts flying directly away from him.
OK, Come back in and soak up some fire while I attack the S.O.B.
"OK, Regrouping"
Immediately sets course for home.

I give up.

I flame the Junkers, and set off home. Half way there, I overhaul the wingman who immediately forms up on me with neither of us saying a word.

I have installed both the BoB campaign and the 'Real Deal' USAAF campaign, but haven't got to them yet as I'm finishing a FB campaign at the moment. Some questions for Extreme_One or Poyomando, though :

These 2 campaigns create a USA and GB folder, and I read some replies back that a Polish, Japanese, Slovak (?) folder is planned in the future with awards and ranks. If Maddox creates these folders themselves eventually, I'm thinking the USA with the AEP and the Japanese with a Pacific add-on, will these cancel out your folders or vice-versa ? Or will you release an updated BoB or Real Deal campaign using Maddox's folder structure ? Thanks. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

FINISHED! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

COMBAT REPORT
Enemy casualties.......52
My casualties..........10 aircraft lost
Decorations............DM, DFM, DFC and 2 bars, DSO
Points.................13150

GENERAL REPORT
I suffered 3 kills before completing the low photo-recce of the German ship in the Channel - an extremely hazardous activity! Most other aircraft lost from 110s (never quite mastered keeping out of the way of the rear gun). Heinkels were tricky, due to very sharp shooting from waist guns when breaking off the attack. 88s and 109s were less of a problem.
The campaign was conducted with the aid of icons and map icons (cockpit on though).

I usually only fly on-line but find your BOB campaign great fun although it can be frustrating at times.
One mission where you take-off alone to intercept 4 Ju 88's attacking your base. I managed to shoot down the four and land my badly shot up hurricane at our base.
Feeling quite elated I ended the mission and found I had to refly it...didn't fly thru a waypoint?? not sure.. Take about going from a high to a low, hehe.
I'm currently stuck on the mission where you escort 4 bombers and apparently you can end it after you fly off the map. I've flown it twice with without success even though the bombers and I survived. The first one nursing my shot up engine to stay with the four bombers until we flew off the map (that was annoying).
I know I'm missing something just don't know what it is. Is there away to avoid the waypoint thing and still get a successful mission.

The answers is probably here but I haven't read the whole thread.

Getting the 'apply' button often seems a bit random in FB missions. I normally try to remember to turn off 'no instant success', but I forgot for my BoB campaign. I didn't find it too bad: only happened a couple of times.

Is there a 'timeout' where eventually you can get to apply the mission, even if you've failed it? If so, the fact that I always fly back to home base and land before exiting the mission might have improved my chances of being able to apply.

I'm about 27 missions in, Date, late September. Just completed the solo night sortie against the incoming Heinkels. How I found them, god only knows. Pure fluke as I saw no searchlights! It was going so well, then in a fit of over-zelousness, I collided with one but managed to bail out! DOH! 11 kites lost. 1 actual death.

Flying full real settings, it gets tricky when sometimes there is no vectoring onto the target, unlike in the real BoB. That night mission is an example of that. Real early war cats eye stuff with no ground control.

Excellent campaign. Only criticism is that the GB sound pack breaks into ordinary QMB play, and so with Russians or Germans chattering over the radio, and Brits in the background, it gets surreal!

If I had all the money I'd spent on drink..I'd spend it on drink!

The fact that they leave their navigation lights on gives you a bit of a help http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif (though even so, you've got to get pretty close to see them)

I really liked that mission. I like night flying anyway, and I was especially impressed that the bombers didn't fire back. I've just finished 'Night Fighter' (written by Cunningham's radar operator) and return fire just didn't figure as a factor in their operations. Most times, the enemy never fired a shot. I turned icons off for that mission as finding the target was 99% of the challenge for a night fighting mission, making icons a bit silly.

Mind you, I don't know why but there was no sign of a flare path when I got back! I got that deju vu feeling again - I felt like Wellum in 'First Light', making an approach, heading into blackness, panic, desparate pullup, round, try again ...
Time after time I recognised experiences and situations from the real Battle of Britain in the campaign. Great research, great design.

I have some problems with 41-th recon mission.
Briefing says: "If you see (enemy) ship, you will need to go down low to get a good photograph. Drop down to wave top height at full speed and make a very low level pass over the ship to get detailed photos of the structure of the vessel."
I do exactly as told, but I cannot pass enemy AA snipers. I dive near the ship to gain max. speed, I go very low almost touching waves with the wing, but as soon as I come close to ship I get shot. Any suggestions?

I don't think the angle makes much difference, to be honest. My only not very helpful comment is that it isn't you, it's a killer mission. Like I said before, I only managed to survive on my fourth attempt. Grit your teeth and hit refly.

There's a nice juicy treat waiting for you once you do survive - I won't spoil it for you though!

Yep, I noticed there was no flare path upon takeoff, even though the briefing said there would be. For a second I though there might have been some clever programming and that they would be on upon return. After that second had passed, I reconciled myself to the fact that I'd have to rely on approaching on the reciprocal heading as the airfield should be visible against the remaining glow in the sky.

As it happened, I rammed a Heinkel, and therefore had no need of a runway to get me back onto terra firma. The silk did that for me.
Just before I hit him I thought..odd...they're not firing back! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Right, finally finished!

That ship recon thing was infuriating, I was SO keen to keep my airframe losses to single figures, but after getting up to mission 41 with 9 losses went on to lose FOUR against that frigging ship.

In the end, I never saw a "Mission Complete" message or a Primary Objective acheived on that one, but the Campaign seemed to take pity on me after I limped into the airfield at Ventnor with half an aeroplane, on my fifth attempt, and let me progress.

Final tally.

Flown : 51
Kills : 55
Lost : 14
Score : 15345

Why thankyou, really immersed myself in that one and was genuinely gutted whenever I lost a plane (managed to get all through France and Dunkirk without loss, pleasingly).

Played on full-switch, apart from map icons (well, they had radar vectoring!).

What I really enjoyed about the campaign was seeing things in Forgotten Battles that I'd never experienced before.

Taking off in a Thunderstorm to battle Bf110s attacking the field; The bright flare you get when looking down a Searchlight; The lighting effects in the cockpit when landing on the flarepath; The beautiful pastel sky colouring as you emerge through mist into sunlight; The obedience and formation skills of wingmen; Regularly fighting at altitude; etc. etc.

Funniest moment : Calling for help when caught in a turnfight with a pair of well flown 109s over the channel, and being assisted by not only the No.1 Squadron Hurricanes I was aiming for, but also a Blenheim carrying a sick officer which proceeded to throw itself all over the sky in pursuit of the Emils. It actually appeared to down one with it's forward armament (I didn't even know it had any!), although I doubt the officer survived the experience.

What was also good is that by the end of the campaign I was very rarely returning from a sortie without ammo, even in engagements where I had brought down multiple aircraft. I have no questions about the modelling accuracy of the .303 after that campaign, in accurate bursts it's more than capable.

Cheers, Spinner
