Oleg.

Many Fb users have been making and flying missions with a 1940 BoB scenario. While it's might not have been your original intent for us to do so, it's a nice change of pace for us.

In order to get a little more of an immersion feeling to these missions, would you please consider making an online map that has land (with a varied coast line and bases) on both sides and water down the middle. Width of channel equaling say 20-25 miles.

With it we could make missions that loosley simulate flying across the channel to attack targets and engage in DF's. We wouldn't need cliffs or anything fancy, just a basic map as described above.

Many thanks,
I/JG3 Jaeger

As we all know, the Soviet Union had too many fighter pilots during WW2. So Stalin's scientists came up with a brillient way to solve this problem. They would make some of their pilots fly British made Hurricanes. The Hurricane was an uber flying coffin. It was designed to maximize pilot kills by providing nothing but fabric and a few wooden spars around the cockpit. This setup prevented the pilot from escaping easily while at the same time not interfering with enemy bullets and shrapnel trying to pass through it. The rest of the Hurricanes structure was designed to ricochet bullets and shrapnel into the cockpit. And thanks to the cockpits superb design, all of them would pass through the cockpit and the pilot inside with little difficulty. Of course the Hurricane's designers didn't stop there. In order for the Hurricane to become a flying coffin, they had to make it easy to shoot. They did this by making the Hurricane the slowest monoplane fighter in use at the time and even gave it a very bulky shape so that it would be easy to spot and hit. The final feature of the Hurricane was its ability to bury or cremate itself. And because it was made of biodegradable materials, the Hurricane was environmentally friendly after it buried itself. Because of these brillient features, the Hurricane was a perfect flying coffin and helped the Soviets solve the pilot surplus they were suffering.

Thanks Maj_Death, but there are no maps "just like that" While the Leningrad map comes close, and could be usable, I seem to get more stutters and frame rates hits on that map. Something I've heard others say about the Leningrad map as well. As a matter of fact it's the only map I have trouble with.

Were it not for those problems, it would do just fine.

Since we cannot make our own maps, perhaps in the future, Oleg will add what I described to his Selection of Simple "no place in partiular" (maps 6 through 8 I beleive)"On-line" maps.

Doesn't hurt to ask, and you have to admit it would be nice.

I have heard of people having problems with the leningrad map. I don't know how they could have a problem with it as I can run it just as well as any other map. And it isn't like I own a top notch graphics card. I own a prehistoric ATI Rage Furry Maxx (similer to Rage 128 Pro). My guess is people just need to adjust their settings some.

Finland runs fine for me - - - > with 256Mb ram.

But I got Windows XP with some low end video card, I am wondering if that is the difference, XP having better memory usage maybe for this purpose?

PS:: You dudes ask Oleg if he could include a winter version of your "BoB" fantasy map, with the frozen ice in place of the 20-25 km sea. Ice sheets are sexy at sunset/sunrise.

Winter maps and skins are the best. They are so...Eastern Front~esque.
