This game lacks one great thing:

Sitting in your plane at it's parking place, you start your engine, roll to the runway and tke off

I would love it, if we could begin our missions not just on the runway, but at the parking places.
For the mission builders, there could be something like roll- paths, to use that for missions.

The handling on the airfields could give us so much more atmosphere, which we mission builders would love to build into our missions

I made a video, where a whole squad starts the engines at there parking stations, then go to the start. I had to use some tricks, to make it feel, because in FB right after start of rolling all planes run for their death.

You can find the video for windows movie player here:
It is very big (100MB) but if you have dsl, it's perhaps worth to be downloaded

Do you mean starting at the parking places on SINGLE PLAYER MISSIONS? If so, that would be too much trouble to program. It's too much to program the AI waiting for you the player to get to the runway and take off without ramming you or losing you in the process. As for squad games, then you should be able to do that amongst yourselves.

The AI is incredibly stupid, Iv'e already been rammed by the plane behind me as i was making a dive bombing run, I can only imagine the chaos of taxing with the AI behind you, Will they stop when you stop for example, would the AI taxi at the same speed you do, It's a nice idea to taxi to the runway, But the AI problems need to be solved first

Hi Avme,

i don't think, to let the taxiing be controlled by the AI.
But as a mission builder i am sure, i can handle something like that manually. The only AI needed for that would be something like that as for the vehicles.

Give me a system, where i can plot rolling courses and i am sure, i can build missions, where 4 - 12 planes roll to their take-off pos and after landing back to their parking positions.
When those pre- and after flight plots are not set, the flights are handled as now. I am thinking of it as an option.

In fully hand made missions, this can be planned.

Watch some vehicles as they encounter obstacles. It's really funny sometimes. They run into the obstacle (without being damaged), go backwards a little bit, try a different angle, run into the obstacle again, go backwards, and so on. Would you really want the aircraft to do the same? And do our aircraft have a reverse gear? /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
Also the aircrafts' damage model would have to be changed so that they can touch objects without being destroyed immediately.

I think we ought to start the night before. In a bar drinking and generally creating mischief. Then we have to go to the barracks, sleep 4 hours, then the klaxon sounds and we have to run out to our planes, jump in, start them, let them warm up, taxi out to the end of the runway, following ground controller's instructions,: then start the mission... gimmie a break please. How about starting at first day of flight training after enlisting....

One thing i would love to have put into this game is some kind of indicator thats it's your turn to take off, A question for people who play without external views is in a single engine plane you really can't see the planes in front of you on the runway so how to you know when they've all airborne & it's your start down the runway, I have to use the external view to see if all the planes in front of me are gone before i take off.

Turn your airplane slightly to the side, and look out over the wing, like real pilots do. In some taildraggers you'll see taxiing from side to side on the taxiway. No, they aren't drunk, they simply can't see poot over the nose, so they must go side to side in order to see.

As I recall, the AI in the "new" B-17 was able to conduct start-up on the pads, taxi to runway in use and take-off without crashing into each other.
Would be a great feature if it includes having to park your aircraft as well. Unless you make a wheels-up landing, that is.

Bavaria is one of the oldest European states.
It dates back to about 500 A.D., when the Roman Empire was overcome by the onslaught of Germanic tribes. According to a widespread theory, the Bavarian tribe had descended from the Romans who remained in the country, the original Celtic population and the Germanic invaders.
