I have been flying online now for a month or so but I was just wondering if someone could throw some names out there of good online flyers. I would like to add them to my list so that I could fly against/with them or watch how they fly. Im not that great but getting better. So who do people think are the good online pilots?

to me the good pilots are the polite and fair ones. no names though. i found at that "good" pilotes are sometimes very rude.

Some that give me the most fits are Blizzard, Javelin, Goodnight. A lot of the squadrons flying together are tough because they are practiced at covering each other well and usually have comms like Roger Wilco and such available to them. It is tough going against them alone without cover but I enjoy it alot and see it as a challenge as well as learn alot in the process.

Here are some or the best pilots on HL. I usually fly cockpit-on with limited or no icons and sometimes padlock. So the good pilots I know are ones who fly these settings.

JV44>0_Rall and VFCKorolov: Rall is the most faithfull and deadly FW190 pilot on Hyperlobby. Koro likes the allied crafts. Korolov and Rall are the two best zoom and boomers on the full real style servers.

Goodknight: Yea, he knows how to handle a plane. Very good in one on one confrontations.

GR142Pipper and Astro : Best wingmen. When these two team up they shoot EVERYONE down. Two of the best Yak/vvs pilots out there.

Fred77 and uhoh7 and Minotaur and Chivas: The best and saviest on lone wolf tactics and can handle a plane as well as anyone. Fred can fly anything with wings. If you are on a server with these guys they WILL shoot you down sooner or later.

MEAN_FARMER and Kahuna: Kahuna jumps from squad to squad so don't know his exact handle. The FARMER is a great yak pilot and Kahuna is great in the p39. They will run rings around you are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Aviar: Hands down the most vicious and successful ground attack pilot on HL. Best at completing a mission, he gets back home and lands his points. If Aviar is on the server you had better cap your base and ground forces because they are dead meat.

JV44, BM357, 609IAP, IV/JG51,: These are squads with many old school full real style pilots. Combined online experience is a million years.

There are many many HL pilots that are not listed here that are just as good. I started flying on HL in 2001 on the now defunct cfs2 feature, yuck. Sometime late in 2001 I started trying out the old Il2 on HL. 609IAPRelentov and uhoh7, fred77,Mino,Chivas,Aviar,Sepp,Recon,Moggy,and many others were there. I have over seventy friends tagged on my HL list that I keep track of and there are probably thirty more that I have lost in HL reinstalls from lack of backing up files. I don't have room or time to list them all. If you want to see the older more experienced long time HL pilots I would try the full real style servers. The guys that score and stay alive with these settings are as good as they get. We are very lucky to have HL and Il2 during what must be a golden age for online flight sims.

Long live HL

everyone has their own opinion of who is best in HL . and all others will say these opinions are biased. and you need to say whether its fullreal or non fullreal. usually people dont fly both modes.

as an aside you can go to various tournament sites and see who the best pilots are. go to VOW and VEF for fullreal, and FS for non fullreal to see who is good.

round ten of fighter sweeps just ended and you can see who the top pilots are.

round nine from 2 months back is linked to my sig because i am an egomaniac and am proud of it.

There are so many good pilots out there - I've been at Greatergreen mostly & I remember some good & tough furballs with FI:Rabitski (sp?) - he's a competent red pilot IMO. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

"So when Diogenes perceived that he was greatly excited and quite keyed up in mind with expectancy, he toyed with him and pulled him about in the hope that somehow he might be moved from his pride and thirst for glory and be able to sober up a little. For he noticed that at one time he was delighted, and at another grieved at the same thing, and that his soul was as unsettled as the weather at the solstices when both rain and sunshine come from the very same source."

Jump into Warclouds or Greatergreen for a weekend and see who you're noticing consistently rack up kills/RTBs.

There's plenty of fellas and gals out there that will give you a run for your money, but, just like in real life, there's probably a big bell curve of talent in virtual-pilot land.. and consequently, a lot of good pilots you've never heard of nor ever faced.

Just remember that there's always someone better than you or with more almighty E.

Check six.

Correction:

FS, www.forgottenskies.com (http://www.forgottenskies.com) is a "Full Real" war i.e. all difficulty switches On, except Speedbar since the compass is blocked on some Soviet A/C. FS is also distiguished by the fact that it is a complete war with ground units fighting each other and taking/losing ground. The opposing squadrons must design and implement a strategy to assist and defend the ground forces to take over enemy held territory. The best LW & VVS squadrons on earth fly there.

The pilots that stand out in my mind are the ones that will sacrifice to help a friend in need, that means they will drop below 3k and clear someones six in times of peril.

Rall, Sable, all the TgD pilots (Thrud dominates as a bomber pilot), Vanya, Glyder, Repoman, Pipper. Too many too mention but they stand out because of their teamplay and "sacrifice" for thier side. Oh and of course Goodknight he's about the best 1v1 pilot out there. Honorable mention goes to Gutted and Dimon for thier raw skills.

Did anyone see that or was it just me?

In order to keep from getting flamed by the purists...let it be known that I fly in all servers from WW to full difficulty. I do find that WW view servers have little element of suprise and that a pilot has to keep track of many objects and know his plane cause there is much less chance of escape. One really has to fly his aircraft to the limits and not get sucked into doing something one's plane doesn't excel at.

Full difficulty adds the element of suprise and I think offers track IR folks a real advantage. It is more about the element of suprise, quick reactions and picking up on the intent of bogeys around you. Situational awareness is extremely difficult at best and any plane can and will escape if conditions are right...seems to favor fast planes with big guns or nimble plane that can lock onto your tail. I find head ons and B&Z very hard due to inability to lead accurately.

To find some of the better WW View pilots that fly on a historical planeset server try here http://www.battle-fields.com/stats.php

I would say that anyone with a positive kill ratio is better than average... 2 to 1 and your pretty good... over 3 to 1 your very good and folks aught to pay attention and you'll note a few pilots at 8 to 1 kill ratios! Now those guys are aces!

Jimmy is good, but you are wrong. I've flied against Jimmy and many others.

The best pilot I ever saw, both in 1 vs 1 or in virtual wars , was FB_ViKS.. he is really deadly. when i say it, I really weight my words.

now, about FS

this is pretty arrogant, considering the giys flying VOW and VEF.

Thats easy..the best pilots are the ones that aren't point *****s....they wont steal kills, if it can be helped, and will rather cover 6 of a friendly than let greed take over and kilkilkil without consideration for his fellow sim players...everybody wants the reward of seeing their opponent bailing out in front of them, or watching the ship they've aniled blow up or lose a wing and go for a tumble...but the worst pilots will deny others that, and take it for themselves.....they don't know the satisfaction of keeping a friend alive, or SHARING.....most often they will be flying the best of the best ac types, cuz any less, and they couldn't hoard those kills....yea, the best players have that RARE commodity online...certainly, since leaving Janes WWII fighters and flyin in FB, I notice an immense lack of it......honour, and class...... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/52.gif

Best pilot? The best pilot can be found in the skill seen in their attack. Any ahole can kill someone in a huge server. How do you find the true best pilot? If he waits and waits and waits some more up high waiting for a big fat pigeon rather than engaging early, forcing a bad position, and getting himself and his wingman killed. That person is the best pilot in the server, heck who knows maybe others will catch on and start flying high too to engage him.

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

Goodknight is a good stick, but I would exclude him from the "best list". I doubt that "real pilots" enjoyed being shot through so their team mate could score a kill. GK did that to me. Twice. (under a different handle). Seen him do it to others. So nope on GK, though one v one, yeah, he's good.

ViKs is very good, no doubt about that. He is a constant problem in VEF for us axis pilots. He's never killed me though, I've always managed to bail out in friendly territory http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/88.gif.

JV44_Rall is one of the best Fw-190 pilots I know. But I wouldn't say he is the truely the best as I know plenty of other Fw-190 pilots equally as good.

Aviar is a great vulcher and mudmover but he is an *sshole too so I try to avoid him. BTW I myself am a cronic vulcher but I atleast try to remain polite.

ROSS_Skygaurd is the best P-39 pilot I have ever flown against, no one else I've seen comes close.

3GIAP_Spinor is the best LaGG-3 pilot I've run across. He will PK you from 800m away at 90 degree deflection with you flying 700km/h. I swear that guy is a killer cyborg practicing his skills for when he wipes out humanity. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Goodknight is over rated IMHO. He is great at killing rookies but in servers with more experienced pilots he tends to get his *ss handed to him.

Yawn is right! What a trolling post! Of course, I'm enough of a fish to bite this line, so what does it make me?

"Best Pilot"? Man, you're going to have to define that a little bit better.

Let's start with the computer thing. How fast is your CPU and how much RAM and what kind of video card and what sort or monitor do you have? Do you have Track IR? If so, do you have a version that allows a faster monitor screen refresh rate? These questions get to be more of an important question as you start checking off boxes in the game setting when hosting.

Are we talking squad against squad? If so, does one side have to support a ground pounding mission and the other not? Does one side have to escort AI bombers and the other not? If so, then this doesn't make it as a balanced test.

Are we talking dogfight server here? If so, then how far apart are the bases? The planes with the best climb rate will then have an advantage if they're spaced too far apart?

Then you have to factor in the true "team players" who don't always go for the zoom and boom advantage and sweep right in and cause trouble beyond their numbers for the enemy planes. Yes, they don't get the points, but they did the work. Showing me your points total is meaningless.

For just selfishly being hard to shoot down, I'd go with Frenchy every time. For best team player, I'd want JV44>Bolcke? Not sure if I spelled that right. There are many others, but I think the guy who posted here that's probably got the spirit of this game right is the one who said anyone who behaves decently!
