Spit IX scores a lot against me. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Mate that depends on what are u flying against Spit IX. Spits are along Ki's and La7's, the best overall A/C's in game. Personally, if nothing else works, I would take Fw-190A8(9) and armed that monster to the teeth, then get some altitude for head on (Spit). Due to his lack of armor (engine) http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/784.gif

FW190A or D (needs patience)
I-16 (WW mostly)
Bf109G-10 (everywhere, needs patience)
P40 (good plane !!!)
Ki84 (when everyone else and their mothers are flying the c model, a model is better dogfighter though)

Hmm, just another ueberplane post.

Any plane I get in, if I fly it to its capabilities, and use its strengths against the opponent's plane's weaknesses is a plane I expect to score in. I can even get kills in a flying target, like a Stuka, if my opponent is rash and overconfident. I think I've proven that online a number of times.

The same concepts of Situational Awareness and Energy Management still apply.

If you have to "figure out which plane is so overmodelled that you're sure to have success in it", you've got some work to do on the guy who's in the pilot's seat. Learn how to fight better in aerial combat FIRST, before you start trying to pick a plane.

Got 2 kills in a Stuka last nite, both in a dogfight (not tailgunner) and both against hurricanes. On one of them I was still carrying the 1800 lb bomb I started out with!

I dont care about kills as much as surviving the mission and landing for that mission survivor screenshot.

p-38 is an excellent head on plane..after u learn how to shoot in it. surprizingly, the cannon is accurate enough to score hits up to .7 meters. deflection shots in it tho are extremely difficult, but that's realistic..the real 38 drivers didnt have much success in the deflection shooting, but they were deadly in the head-on's and rear 6 in a heartbeat.
i see no one flyin the 4x20mm hurricane...and that bird is a killer. 400 meter shots no problem. it isnt the speediest, or the best climber, but it has good enough turn rate to be pure hell with compentant wingmen. low ammo is what really hurts it, but 1 blast is enough to take wings off with ease.
against ai's, i've noticed p-38 cannon tearing off spitfire's wings in 1 hit to the wingroots, ki's on fire from 1 hit to the same area, and k-4's exploding in seconds after a head on. so the p-38 could be the most dangerous plane in the game..those who can shoot accurate consistantly in this plane from cockpit are highly skilled marksmen, and the 38 is the ultimate challenge to fly in a furball like the 190's. it will turn to a point, unlike the 190's, but u have to know it inside and out

Head-ons.... the mark of a true amateur.

http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Wait until you get a nice position behind the enemy's wingline before you hose away.

That is, unless it's just you vs. many, or you're damaged or soemthing, and that's the only shot you're likely to get.

If not, NEVER give up a shot to get a shot. It's rolling the dice unnecessarily. And the other guy could be a better, or luckier shot than you.

HOs are for rookies.

At the moment I greatly enjoy Il-2's especially the oneseater 1941 variant.
After dropping bombs I join any furball and aim to hit as many enemies as possible, and then I even try to get home.
110's are equally interresting.

I often dogfight in the He111 and TB3 too http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

with the way the MG151/20 hits i doubt anyone gets anywhere near 10 kills in one sortie in the G2 since AEP

As usual, you all forgett the ultimate multiple scorer ( if flown right ):

The Schwalbe !

With that bird ( if its not banned ) you can get 10 ore more kills in an online-sortie.
But you will anoy everyone else in a 262...

A kill is only a good kill if you can make it home in one piece - so I prefer FW190A models or Bf109F2/F4 & G2. That is on historical planeset servers of course. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

HxPrey I know that Spits are very capable oppos, but u just make sure that u execute head on properly (with some alt and lot of speed ---maybe even BnZ, but I doubt that if u get an experienced flyer in Spit---) great chance is that Spit will end up in flames.

Also, anything outhere with sane brain will give up head on vs. Fw190 http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif, so again I can make it my advantage as well to bleed his energy out.

I don't worry too much about this been called 'noob tactic'. If I miss, I'll try to get myself a decent alt again. For another pass. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

And I agree that P-47 is also monster-durable plane for the same tactic.

In a Historical planeset server, it really depends on which year. If you want to say "all planes are fair game" then I would have to agree with the jets (my personal fav is the He162, but really just pick one)

Otherwise, I'll take the La7 thank you. (A total stat-padder)

Flying offline as I do, the Me-262 gets me far more average kills per sortie than any other AC.
6 to 8 kills per sortie in my offline campaign are not uncommon. I can't even come close to matching that in any other plane, period. The next in line would be any of the Mk108 equipped 109s ( except the plain G-6 or G6 late. ) I can get an average of four or five kills in those.
