Ok, just a thought. Didnt mean to start a war here... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

If Im not mistaken, the original IL2 contains almost no other allied warplanes. We got IL2 with their variants, Russian fighters and German alike.

But now we have so many planes to choose - from all (or nearly all) major nations that involved in the war. And while the campaigns still weighted themselves on eastern front, some very creative and talented simmers has created various campaigns such as Extreme_One and Poymando's Battle of Britain and another (sorry forgot the name of the person who made it) pacific campaign.

Well, IMO, this sim is becoming a general WWII flight sim in europe, western and eastern fronts. And when the PF comes, it will look like its covering almost all fronts in WWII.

" not really forgotten anymore".......and that is IMO a very good thing.

Were it not for this simm/game I would still be as limited in what I fly on a reguler basis as before I saw the Black plane zooming over tanks in snow and thought "What the hell is a Sturmovik?

I hope they really do make it global so I can get a almost real feel for the Italian war birds that I have read on but never had a chance to virtual pilot.

Because Oleg and co. have saw fit to keep expanding the front so to speak my enjoyment expands right along with it to where I can now jump from my nimble little Yak to busting tanks in a Lightning, straight away to simulating the sheer effort needed to confront 109's in a Beautifully modelled Gladiator.

It almost makes me wish even more countries had been involved (albiet in a very selfish fantasy way) because then some day I could fly the Columbian F-t7 Puma or the Mexican AF J-33 El Diablo had those countries ever produced such planes.

In other words the more , the better , the merrierer. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Does it mean we need a name change for the game/sim ? It's not IL-2 anymore, neither is it Forgotten Battles. That's a thought... a UBI sponsored "name the game" contest. What can we rename FB/AEP ? Winner gets a new PC. Or a free copy of the FB/AEP/PF when it comes out.

I'll take the new PC please, I can already afford the new game.

The choice of planes donÔ┬┤t automatically make a battle "forgotten".

Remember this war went on for years and there are plenty of "forgotten battles" to simulate with the not forgotten acÔ┬┤s.

One thing I miss in perticular is all of the early war planes. A large number of them were used on lot of the "forgotten battle" sites.

Not to mention the limited maps we got.

Heads-on firing was not a safe practice after all ?
Jussi Huotari: It was not specially recommendedÔ.....
And later, as the Russians were armed with 20mm cannons, it was unwise to meet them heads-on

I heard they are thinking of changing the name of the sim now to "Remembered Battles".
