Hi!

I did a small test shooting down 1080 planes. Look at the results at:

http://mitglied.lycos.de/jaytdee/aep/aep20damagetest.html

Hope this helps to stop the endless number of threads popping up ORR.

Wow.... what happens if he ever does a "big" one http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/images/smiley/blink.gif

Interesting read JtD, thanks http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - Gunther Rall

That is very illuminating, and while it too small a sample for statistical purposes, you should post this in Oleg's Ready Room, to make sure they see it. Empirical evidence is the best way to nudge things that are a bit off back into line.

Hi JTD,

Thankyou so much for re-running some of these :>

Just one small question - was this test done on a local "online" game, or via single player? There was an email from Oleg that someone posted and then deleted a few days ago which has made me a bit wary of any figures from online based testing in 2.00.

FWIW, I haven't been able to find a single difference testing offline, other than a couple of weird instances of MK108 behaviour [HEIT showing as MG hits, P-63 taking infinite MK108 MG shells on the fuselage, etc]. My testing is only via aiming at a single component and counting shell types / shell hits registered on it to remove/damage it though.

Wow. Good work.
I think it proves what we have all been thinking about AEP for quite a while.
I posted a seperate post before I Read this one saying that I thought that the big B-17 went down too easily by simply bursting into flames from small-calibre fire, while fighters seemed structurally immune to the MG151 20mm.

It looks like the IL2 team got it mixed around.

One very curious thing I noticed from your work was... the P-47 is NOT near the top of the list as far as well-armoured planes go! It looks like its very easily killed. Shame.

JtD, I salute your perseverance and meticulous documentation. OTOH, I wonder about your social life! http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I'm j/k btw, afterall, I'm the one wasting my evening reading the results, word for word... http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

This was a local online game. Me against one AI machine. I don't know why I shouldn't take the results, the numbers totally matched my impression. There are therefore valid in this test and I can't see what makes them invalid for other situations.

This could be different when not attacked from 6 o'clock. Like I said, the problem was fire, structurally it's very strong.

The mail from Oleg basically seemed to point to the variation being caused by online anti-cheat, or at least, that's where Maddoxs' attention was being focussed at the time.
