Hello All,

I am curious as to why I get maybe 50% better frame rates when sound hardware acceleration is turned off? I was under the impression that hardware accel. allowed the sound chip on my Fortissiomo III to do the work it was optimised for.

I think I am going to leave hardware accel off, I like the added frames.

Does anyone know what i will be missing out on if I leave the sound accel off?
I don't have a surround sound set up, just a 2 speaker/subwoofer setup.

I answered your question in another thread but I'll copy and paste it here too.

Turning on audio enhancements does indeed turn on hardware acceleration but it also turns on EAX and I think some other enhancements (occlusion, doppler?). The reason you see an fps drop is because the use of EAX and other enhancements costs more framerates than hardware acceleration gives. Of cource, you can edit the conf.ini file to only give you hardware acceleration and no other enhancements but I prefer to stay out of there.

Thank you

That gives me a good starting point to go in and edit my config.ini manually.
