Simple one - How do I take control of training missions.

Please no patronising RTFM comments - I already have - but a heck of a lot to take in at one sitting.

There is a reference to taking control of training missions 'at any time' in the 'training' section of the manual, but absolutely no clue as to how to do it. Does the learning curve need to be so steep?

Sorry to let you down, but you can't take control of training tracks-they're strictly for watching and observing only.

The game does take a while to get used to, but the learning curve isn't nearly as steep as some other games. It's a bit overwhelming at first, I know, we've all been there, but just stick with it and soon you'll be addicted like everyone else here.

Hutch

So why does it say that it is possible to do so in the manual?

You can take control of tracks, not training missions. They arent the same thing im afraid.

Just flip the Switches to "Manual" for view. The you can select the other a/c and watch what goes on.

"Fly to Survive, Survive to Fly"

Btw - from the manual (p45 IL2 Sturmovik - not Forgotten Battles) 'You can take up control of the flight at any time and continue on your own' . No istructions on how to do this however.

Perhaps this feature was taken out in FB perhaps (which is just plain silly imho).

Any suggestions on the best way to practice landings? Since this has been a problem area in the past, I'd like to be able to practice this before going out on proper missions.

You can take over TRAINING Tracks but only in Old Il2 with ESC and Take Control. This feature seem to be ignored on FB most likely because of the Trk Format. Hopefully we can see this back sometime.

Try hitting ESC, when it exits the training mission, hit the 'take over' button. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

You guys arn't helping him at all. Taking over control of the views in a track, is not taking over control of the plane. He wants to fly it!

Here's what you can do to practice take offs and landings. Start multiplayer, and open a DF room. Nobody knows your IP#, so nobody will join. You will have a large choice of bases to choose from, and all the planes. You can practice your TO/landings to your hearts content.

If you only just bought IL2 Sturmovik, the current box version is not the original version. The box version now comes patched to version 1.03, so you'll find that even on a fresh install the training missions won't work.

Heres two good alternatives:
